☛ Paseo de Martí Avenue, commonly known as El Prado, a long avenue that divides Old Havana and Central Havana, in Cuba. Havana was founded early in the sixteenth century by the Spanish and was declared the capital of Cuba in 1607. Havana lies on the northwest coast of Cuba. The car is a 1949 Buick Roadmaster.

I'm not too sure what this is, but it measured in at about an inch and a half and was powering along the surface of the seaside rocks near Beachport in South Australia. Under his seemingly solid body armour, nothing was going to stop this heavyweight!

Das Wasserkraftwerk wurde im Verbund mit der Urfttalsperre gebaut und am 8. August 1905 in Betrieb genommen.[2] Es liegt zwar an der Rur, bezieht aber sein Wasser aus der Urfttalsperre über den Kermeterstollen, der 67 Höhenmeter oberhalb des Kraftwerkes in zwei Druckrohre übergeht und eine Wassermenge von 16 m³/s abgibt. Das Kraftwerk war bei der Einweihung mit einer Leistung von 12 Megawatt das größte Speicher-Wasserkraftwerk Europas und wird von der RWE Innogy betrieben.

I was pleased to have this big dragonfly land just right in front of me a couple of feet from my camera lens! After seeing so many delicate little damselflies, this was a real heavyweight!
The bird seen just above the exhaust plume is a Kestrel, flying off the telegraph pole behind the locomotive.
The locomotive was booked for a tour from Norwich to Chester. Unfortunately, the inside valve spindle bush was found siezed to the valve spindle and the locomotive had to be declared a failure.
The fault was repaired relatively quickly, but obviously not in time to head the planned tour. Instead this was powered by a diesel locomotive - 47802 throughout.
BBMF Avro Lancaster PA 474 one of only two Airworthy examples.Built in May 1945 so never saw any Wartime action.Total Lancaster losses in WW2 totaled 4171. Four Rolls Royce Merlin engines.
37706 passing Lancaster on the up fast with an afternoon Carlisle - Crewe engineers on Fri 1st March 2002.
The locomotive is still in service with West Coast Railways and has since been fitted with snowploughs.

I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time, this morning, as these two big boys clashed. Their efforts turned out to be in vain though, sadly. While they were preoccupied, a younger & smaller stag slipped in & sneakily herded away all of the ladies.

The tradition continues. Chris Butcher, co-founder of The Heavyweights, joined his lifelong friends from New Orleans, where he moved few years ago. Chris was part of the first festival in 2016 and tries to be in Toronto at this time of a year. He performed later on in few clubs, but I only managed to catch him once at the "Supermarket". The Kensington festival features musicians from in Toronto or based in Toronto. Some 400 musician took parts at the end of September weekend.

The Heavyweights Brass Band ruled Montreal Jazz Festival area for few days this July. John Pitman, Lowell Whitty, Nolan Murphy, RJ Satchithananthan, Paul Metcalfe, Zach Smith played in the Quartier des Spectacles and were joined by Big Smoke Brass band (their Toronto 'competition'), who happened to have a gig in Montreal at the same time.
RJ Satchithananthan has a soft spot for the little ones, as he has a (fairly new) kid at home.

A pair of heavyweight refurbs, 37504 named British Steel Corby and 37511, now in Railfreight two tone grey and named Stockton Haulage run a long train of raw steel bloom and billet out of Lackenby and past the South Bank coke ovens early afternoon of the 27th of June 1989.
Stockton Haulage was a company based at Stranrear and received a daily speedlink train from Tees Yard. Set up with a section 8 government grant in 1979, the company moved, amongst other rail borne commodities, large amounts of steel from Teesside to Northern Ireland using rail for the mainland operation and transferring to truck at their depot on the edge of Stranrear for the remainder of the journey.
Oh, and its fair to say I think, that my fence straddling technique has developed well here!

Not typically a nocturnal operation, Illinois Railway Museum this night was putting on a night photo shoot as part of the "Shay It Forward" program, held to celebrate the life and memorialize the preservation efforts of the late Jim Wrinn, editor of Trains magazine.
