This is Moses Cone and his wife Bertha's home in Blowing Rock, NC. Moses Cone was an entrepreneur, philanthropist and conservationist who manufactured textiles at his facility in Greensboro.
Flat Top Manor was built at the turn of the century in the Victorian Neo-Classical Style. Building materials including the gaslights, telephone and central heating system had to be hauled 20 miles from Lenoir, NC by horse drawn wagons. The house cost $25,000 to build at a time when $200 was the median for a habitable structure. The country estate comprises 23 rooms and 13,000 square feet with leaded glasses windows and dormers and a single lane bowling alley.
Moses Cone did not get to enjoy his country retreat very long. In 1908 he died, 7 years after the home was completed. His wife outlived him by 39 years and upon her death in 1947 the estate was bequeathed to the Moses Cone Hospital who then later turned it over to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is now a national heritage site and the most visited along the expanse of scenic roadway.
There are 25 miles of carriage roads throughout the grounds, plus hiking trails, 2 man-made lakes and apple orchards. It sits at milepost 294 along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

What is known is that charges slowly separate in some clouds causing rapid electrical discharges (lightning), but how electrical charges get separated in clouds remains a topic of much research. Many of the larger icy moons of the Sol system's gas giants have interior oceans of liquid water, kept liquid through tidal heating caused by the interactions of the two gravity wells. The exoplanet Krysto, home of the famed ICEPLANET team 2002, was a true planet rather than a moon, but it did have a particularly large and close moon.
It took the Iceplaneteers some time to realize the potential of Krysto's subsurface ocean - the deeply hostile surface conditions combined with Blacktron factional conflicts meant that their limited resources were mostly put to other tasks - but after some time a mission was planned to melt a shaft through the thick icecap to the internal sea of Krysto.
The Aquarius Project, as it was called, centered initially around a large submarine, the Interior eXploration Vessel Aquarius, but there were other vehicles besides the IXV Aquarius. The Delphinus-1 was a rover used for exploring the subglacial seabed, though it did have a limited swimming ability. The rather large laser cannon proved necessary as there were a number of very large and rather dangerous creatures that called the interior ocean their home.

This has a little too much yellow and not enough white to really mesh well with my previous "Alt-Seatron" Aquarius Project creations, but I'm mostly pleased with the overall design. In order to mesh with but remain distinct from the Ice Planet factional colours, the intent is that the IP2002 colours are used on the surface, and for the Aquarius Project interior exploration stuff the blue is replaced by yellow and the trans neon orange by trans red.
Coming off the Lea Valley lines and heading for the North London Lines at Stratford station is 47452 working a freightliner service, 3rd June 1976, Being fitted with electric train heating equipment this a more unusual duty for Crewe allocated 47452 which was more likely to be found on London Midland Region passenger services.

47452 was delivered in March 1964 from Crewe works as D1569 and allocated to Tinsley MPD although it transferred to Immingham within a month and Finsbury Park a month later. It returned to Immingham in January 1965 and remained for eight years. Following fitment of electric train heating it transferred to the London Midland Region initially at Bescot but moving to Crewe in July 1973. In the early hours of the 24th June 1984 whilst working the Aberdeen – Kings Cross Sleeper service 47452 was derailed on the curve at Morpeth due to excessive speed and ended up on its side. Fortunately there were no fatalities and 47452 was recovered and moved to Crewe works for assessment. Repairs were eventually authorised and after well over two years out of traffic 47452 was released from Crewe works in October 1986. In January 1988 it transferred to Gateshead returning to Crewe five months later before transferring to Stratford in October 1988. It again returned to Crewe in May 1989 and this was followed by transfer to Tinsley in October 1990 before its final transfer to Old Oak Common in June 1991 from where it was withdrawn in August 1991. It would linger at Old Oak for the next six years until eventually broken up by MRJ Phillips on site in April 1997.

The district heating pipes continue through the right part of the Berlin diorama. Of course, the graffiti gangs didn't spare out that area.
Here waste is incinerated and turned into heat which is piped around to homes and industry in large parts of the city for heating.

Bemerkenswert ist die technische Einrichtung der Anlegestelle mit einem Kran, der mittels einer archimedischen Schraube in seinem Rüssel die feingemahlene Kohle aus den Schiffen befördert. Here’s my setup for C41 color film developing. I bought a temperature controller and set it to 107 degrees with a one degree temperature variation (107 degrees setting brings liquid in containers to 100 degrees). I also bought a crock-pot at the good will. I place the developer, blix and a bottle of water in crock-pot and plug in temperature controller. I add hot tap water to crock-pot. I go away and come back in an hour and the liquid in the bottles is about 100 degrees. I then remove the plain water bottle and place it in a 2 liter mixing bowl filled with hot tap water and wait until temperature rises to 102 degrees. I pour water into film developing tank and place tank into crock pot. I remove the developer and place it in 2 liter mixing bowl with hot tap water and monitor temperature until it is 102 degrees (takes only a minute or two). I remove the developer, pour out the water in the film developing tank and place tank in crock-pot. You then fill the tank with film developer. I use the little rod to agitate film according to directions instead of inversions (3.5 minutes). At end of development time I dump developer back into its bottle and pour in the blix and agitate using rod. At end of blix time (6.5 minutes) I pour blix back into its bottle and rinse film using tap water for 3 minutes. You then pour the stabilizer in to film tank and agitate for ten seconds, pour stabilizer back into its bottle and hang film to dry. Your done.
On my first C-41 development I had a hard time maintaining uniform temperature and the blix leaked from the tank (I did inversions of tank). The water bath setup gets all chemicals to almost the same temperature and minimizes aggravation trying to get developer to exactly 102 degrees. The blix needs to be between 95 and 105 degrees so the water bath takes care of it. By using the rod to agitate the film and not doing inversions the pressure from the blix does not build up and cause the top to leak.
The biggest remaining problem is that the film chemistry once mixed has a short shelf life. Since a one liter package is supposed to develop 8 rolls of film I have to hold my undeveloped film until I have 8 rolls ready to develop. This time around I did six rolls. I had planned to wait until I had 8 rolls, but caved and decided to go ahead and develop at six rolls. Since then I have developed 3 more rolls for a total of nine rolls. Ninth rolls color is fine, so, I may go for ten rolls.
This morning I was heating up water in the microwave when I looked outside and saw a mama deer and two youngsters. The microwave dinged--mind you, my windows and doors were all closed--and they all looked up at the house. Suddenly they were on high alert, looking around at the woods and other places where danger might lurk. I got my camera out, and slowly opened the door. They took off. Mama and Sis went up the lawn, Brother bolted into the woods where he could not be seen. Sis stopped and stood at the corner of the building, watching and waiting for Brother. She did not join Mama until Brother had come out of the woods.
