Peak District Heather....August 2021,.....

The Peak District never fails to put on a good display of Heather each year.

Late Summer sunset in the Moorlands near Blavand, Jylland, Denmark

I bought the heather on Tuesday at the market. I've been looking for a while for something suitable to place in that little spot. Heather reminds me of where I'm from - beautiful Northumberland. :-)

The heather is in full bloom at present and providing a wonderful rich colour to the landscape and in particular to the mountainside landscape of Mount Leinster.

The heather is also now showing its lovely flower.

I loved the stone wall and the heather beyond. Beautiful Peak District.

This morning at dawn i went for a hike across a boggy moor to see how the heather was coming on. It was windy and rainy and i did wonder if i aught to have picked a better day, but when the rainbow made an appearance i did momentarily forget about the squelching boots and sodden clothing.

This icm shot must be among my most minimalistic photographs to date.

The purple heather is at its best in the forest now, the challenge is waiting for the weather to match!

Check out Heather's Page on FB for a look at her Visual Journal, a link to her blog, and a mention of the upcoming release of her book, The Clay Girl in October.

She's a better writer than she is a photographer, and she's a damn fine photographer! :-)

We were doing a 10K run, but I always carry a camera in my backpack....Comes in handy on ocassions like these...

The Brunssummerheide is a varied nature reserve with remnants of the former coniferous forests. The heath is diverse and is interspersed with grasses, shrubs and trees. The sky has been modified from a dull grey one to a sunset to bring in some drama.
