A woman with a halo in Ghent (appropriately enough, as there was quite a lot of religious iconography in the city)
I can't stop from sinning
My halo's just a hole
The deeper that I get inside you
The deeper you will fall

The halo is an atmospheric phenomenon produced when sunlight interacts with ice crystals high up in cirrus or cirrostratus clouds. It seemed an appropriate mysterious effect at the site of the stone circle of Calanais II.
hoje, no Recife
Graças a Lucia Carneiro, que me avisou do espetáculo que havia no céu, pude ver e fotografar o halo solar
There was an interesting phenomenon I observed this morning. This is a circular refraction of light through high clouds (cirrostratus) that creates a 22 degree halo. Ice crystals high in the atmosphere bends blue and violet light more than red, displaying the spectral colors of rainbow. Of course, it has nothing to do with the electric tower in the foreground. I decided to center the sun with it's top to add a sense of scale and drama to an otherwise bland sky. I also increased the contrast in post to bring out the spectral colors.

Officially it is called a 22° halo and it is an atmospheric optical phenomenon that consists of a halo with an apparent radius of approximately 22° around the Sun or Moon.
Atmospheric 22 degree halos sometimes appear around the sun or moon when there are ice crystals in the air, usually at high altitude.

I really like that the halo of the sun includes the tree.

The tiny oranges for easy peel and a punch of taste. 2x2 inch or 50mmx50mm. Hard to get that exact capture where you can see it and taste as well as smell it when the frame comes up but when you do you know it is right. tweak just a bit more ;o)
Easter 2018 was grey, but Monday afternoon (2nd Easter Day) cloudiness decreased and a bright halo display could be seen.
In the photograph you can see the 22 degree halo (bright) with both parhelia ('sundogs') and an upper tangent arc. Above this a less bright (and more rare) supralateral arc was observed.

In sunshine and in shadow
Thru the deep and the shallow
Over mountains and meadow
Where weak men cower
And darkness wallows
A humble warrior determined
Crushing evil and sin
Truly he knows

Not a good omen for our sailing trip ;-)
