Parked up at the behind an Aircraft hangar on a private airfield near Basildon on sea is former Arriva the shires (H265GEV 5405) a 1990 Leyland Olympian seen no longer in use being used for storage of spare vehicle parts. New to Sothend Transport.

Having made the long run up from Tonbridge, New Enterprise Coaches (ARRIVA Southern Counties) 5405 H265 GEV is seen at Duxford attending Showbus 2009. Sunday 27th September 2009.
This vehicle along with H264 GEV were the final remaining ECW bodied Leyalnd Olympian's in the ARRIVA Southern Counties fleet and were both removed from traffic in early 2010.

Arriva Southend displayed this Leyland Olympian at Showbus Duxford,looking remarkably good for its age.

reasonably discreet for a good sports car. The Carrera S sounds good and it still retains some of the looks of the old 911.
Every morning they drag them out on the beach. Mostly paddle boards! There actually yoga classes on paddle boards here!

A rather modest gate and fence for a house that probably would set you back between $3-4 million now.
Survivor! Most of the older VW vans have succumbed to rust, but this one has few telltale 'bumps" on the body and the wheel arches look intact. Vancouver has a fairly benign climate when it comes to cars. Yes, it rains - but virtually no roadsalt in the winter. hence a lot of 'survivors" of tin-boxes like this.
An early Mk5 van is rare enough to see these days, but this one was actually being used by tradesmen in the upmarket Edinburgh district of Ravelston today.

31.05.2016 Endlich wird auch in Deutschland in HD (via Antenne) ausgestrahlt ...
Als vor einigen Jahren der DVB-T Sendebetrieb startete, war ich stark verwundert, warum nicht gleich auf den HD-Standart gesetzt wurde. Die Technik und die Endgeräte waren vorhanden.
Inzwischen ist in jeden besseren TV-Gerät ein DVB-T 2 Empfänger verbaut - Warum also nicht einfach wechseln?
Heute war es dann soweit, der Sendebetrieb startet.
Nur was war los? Mein TV findet keine neuen Sender?!?
Eine kurze Recherche brachte die Erleuchtung ... Deutschland brät sich ne Extra-Wurst ...
Wärend sind der H264 Standart durchgesetzt hat, setzt Deutschland auf den H265 Standart ...
Geräte die diesen Beherschen sind selbst zum Sendestart schwer zu bekommen ...
"Schwer" heißt aber nicht unmöglich und so wird mich noch heute ein entsprechendes Gerät erreichen - Trotz der Gewissheit, dass das Gerät kein Jahr "halten" wird.
Warum?
Weil die privaten Sender ab 2017 nur noch verschlüsselt ausgestrahlt werden ...
Ich habe viele Jahre im Bereich "braune Ware" (TV/Radio/Sat) gearbeitet und habe noch die ein oder andere "Connection".
Es sind noch keine Geräte verfügbar, die den "deutschen Standart" UND die Verschlüsselung (Irdeto) beherschen auf dem Markt verfügbar.
Was für eine Scheiße!
Naja, gebe ich halt 2x Geld aus ... Das günstige Gerät ist billiger als das HD-Jahresabo und ich bekomme ja auch was dafür.
ABER denkt auch jemand an die Umwelt?
Wieviel Tonnen Elektroschrott werden durch diese "deutsche Nummer" verursacht?
Hätte man den bestehenden HD-Standart genutzt, hätten sehr viele die bereits vorhandenen Geräte nutzen können.
Nun hingegen wird man gleich 2x zum Kauf gezwungen ...
Geil, oder?
PS: Natürlich wird niemand zum Kauf gezwungen. Man kann natürlich auch bis 2017 weiter in SD gucken und dann gleich den "richtigen" Receiver kaufen.
Aber ich WILL nunmal HD - Und zwar jetzt!
The City decided to cut off some branches of the big Japanese cherry tree outside our balcony. The branches were getting tangled up in the power/phone lines. The tree survived but now has a distinct V look to it.
