Gulmarg is easily accessible from Srinagar ,the capital of Kashmir, in under 2 hours by road. Just 1 hour on the way is the town of Tangmarg, a key tourist attraction and also a main destination for skiers riding down from Gulmarg during the winter months. From Tangmarg, the Gulmarg plateau is just 30 minutes travel.
Gulmarg (Meadow of Flowers) is a town in Baramulla district in the state of Jammu & Kashmir in India.Gulmarg lies in a cup-shaped valley in the Pir Panjal Range of the Western Himalayas, at an altitude of 8694 feet, some 56 kms from Srinagar, the capital of Jammu & Kashmir. It is a famous tourist and skiing destination.
I was off for a short trip to the Vale of Kashmir and I have missed a lot of your uploads.Hope to make up in the next few days.:-)
Might be worth a look in large.
I took this shot in Gulmarg, a famous tourist and skiing destination in the state of Jammu & Kashmir, India. To reach this spot we took a ride on the Gulmarg Gondola, the second longest and second highest cable car in the world. The ride is in 2 stages. The first stage takes you to an altitudeof 8694 feet. The second stage (mostly used by skiers) takes you to an altitude of 13058 feet.
We took the first level upto 8694 feet.Even from here the views were breathtaking. On the horizon you can see the Greater Himalayas. The peak to the right of the shot is Nanga Parbat (Naked Mountain), the ninth highest peak in the world. It stands tall at 26,660 feet above sea level .It is notorious for being extremely difficult to climb and has earned the nickname Killer Mountain.
Will be off for a few days.See you all soon.Take care.
