Any comments/positive critique welcome. I would really like to improve my photography.
Unfortunately due to the day’s events we arrived at the location at night and it was still windy and raining. Once we arrived facing the lighthouse we were lucky to find the the wind and rain were hitting our backs so sheltered the lenses. As the rain clouds moved off into the distance the lights from the coastal towns created what looked like a halo across the Tor Bay coastline. Sometimes luck can be on your side even in dark and dreary conditions !
Nestled on the rugged cliffs of Anglesey, Wales, this lighthouse stands as a timeless sentinel against the vast expanse of the Irish Sea. For centuries, it has guided sailors safely to shore, its light piercing through the darkest nights and fiercest storms. The winding path leading to the lighthouse symbolizes the journey of life, filled with twists and turns, yet always leading to a place of safety and guidance. This iconic structure not only serves as a navigational aid but also as a reminder of resilience and hope for all who visit.

Even Barbie, with her perfectly coiffed hair and an impressive resume of dream jobs (astronaut, vet, cupcake chef—what can’t she do?), needs a moment of reassurance now and then. After all, even a gal living her best life in a pink mansion with a pool might occasionally steer her convertible off course. That’s where her pink lighthouse steps in—a beacon of hope for Barbie-sized existential crises. Its glowing light says, "Hey, relax, girl. We’ve got this." It’s less about storms and more about those days when you accidentally mismatch your stilettos or your Malibu dream house Wi-Fi goes down.
Security for Barbie isn’t about braving hurricanes; it’s about staying fabulous through life’s little hiccups. A lighthouse is the ultimate signal to pause, adjust your tiara, and sparkle forward. Because let’s face it—if even Barbie needs a guiding light sometimes, the rest of us are definitely allowed to lose our way, too. Just remember: whatever happens, always accessorize appropriately for the journey.

"East Vows Beacon, a silent sentinel perched upon the rugged coastline, exudes a sense of timeless charm. Standing at this historic beacon during the magical 'blue hour,' I witnessed nature's tranquil beauty unfold. The long exposure capture embraced the ethereal essence of this moment, with soft hues painting the sky and the sea. As the beacon's guiding light pierced through the night, a serene atmosphere enveloped the surroundings. This blend of history, natural splendor, and the captivating allure of the 'blue hour' created an experience beyond words. #EastVowsBeacon

Well the road is wide
And waters run on either side
And my shadow went with fading light
Stretching out towards the night...

As the marine layer crept in, I just had a feeling that the light from the Umpqua River Lighthouse would be awesome...
"The Barns Ness Lighthouse revealed its captivating allure during the golden hour. As the sun dipped below the horizon, a warm yellow glow embraced the coastal landscape. The low tide revealed intriguing textures on the beach, including a beautiful water puddle that served as a mirror to the lighthouse's radiance. It was a moment of serene beauty, where nature's elements harmonized in perfect balance. The lighthouse stood tall, its beacon a guiding light in both the physical and metaphorical sense. A scene that whispered tales of maritime history and filled my heart with a sense of wonder. #BarnsNessLighthouse #GoldenGlow #LowTideReflections #CoastalSplendor #GuidingLight #LighthouseBeauty #SereneMoments #Nature'sBalance #MaritimeHistory"
A dark and dramatic sky one afternoon over Napier and the Art Deco Waiapu Cathedral tower stood out above the city with its neon cross.
I've never seen a neon cross on a place of worship before (this one even changed colour every minute or so)...and it certainly provided a bright beacon of light for the faithful as the menacing storm clouds rolled in.

Bodie Ghost Town
Bodie, California-
Bodie became a boom town in 1876 after the discovery of gold; by 1879 it had a population of 5,000–7,000. The town went into decline in the subsequent decades and came to be described as a ghost town by 1915.
At the southern edge of Norway, where land meets the endless sea, a beacon stands proud in red, white, and blue — quietly echoing the colors of the nation it guards.
As the last light fades, the lighthouse awakens — a symbol of guidance, endurance, and belonging.
Fun fact
Lindesnes Lighthouse marks Norway’s southernmost point and is the country’s oldest lighthouse, first lit in 1656. It stands exactly 1,752 km in a straight line from Norway’s northernmost lighthouse at Slettnes in Finnmark — a poetic span of light across the nation.
Still on old files is I'm lacking inspiration at the moment....
Perch Rock lighthouse in New Brighton on the Wirral,
Thanks for looking,

Finally got up early to go out for a morning shoot. I was not disappointed in this location. Single shot with tripod.

A winding path leads to the famous lighthouse at Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada, as the setting sun cast golden rays across the sky.
Today, as Canadians head to the polls, may we find leadership that, like this lighthouse, stands firm and lights the way through uncertain seas.

As amateur, we always ask how to improve our photography.
Many have said practice, practice and practice more. So shoot more (explore, experiment, exercise) and shoot less (be more critical on your subject and ask questions why, how, what etc before you click the shutter).
It may be useful to find a guiding light on your road of photography. Try to learn from a great master in photography. Study the works, experiences or teachings from the masters that you admire.
Or you may find a mentor. He/she may not be a photographer. Photography is like life. You need to learn more than just the how-to techniques for photography. A mentor we are talking here is not a person who teaches you Photoshop, or the one who shows you the rules of composition. Instead he/she would be someone who leads you to more questions about yourself and questions about the world (and he/she may not give you the answers).
So go and find the guiding light for you.
This is the lighthouse I saw when I was en-route to Cristo Rei in my Lisbon vacation this year.

When I die I want to be a rock star or live a rockstar who loves me back. This is what I want. Muse singing Guiding Light. It is so powerful and my favorite song from them. I want to be with someone who had a rockstar life but a family value heart. And I know there are some out there like that.

A precious Russian Easter egg, a broken baby carriage, a scrap-yard in the rain. Whatever do these items share in common? I probably don't have a definitive answer today. Freeman Patterson suggests in his photography writings that our subconscious steps out a few years ahead of our conscious reality, so any symbolism that slips into our current work might be deciphered 3-5 years down the road. I'll leave the viewer to determine their patience level.
I should mention the baby carriage was missing during a revisit, the Dunmore junk yard is forever erratic, and the decorate egg is sublime. Perhaps one day I'll look back and reiterate the photographic arts are a personalized magical arena and tool for understanding the place where we're standing, the life we've embraced, and the conflicts and struggles we endure. One can add a thirst for dangling hidden visual treasures and on occasion……Easter eggs. Did I mention chocolate~
Wishing all my Flickr friends a beautiful week!
