For my Mother on Mother's Day 2023.
I wish all mothers a happy day today. They often do not realise how much they are a guiding light in our lives, shaping our hopes and dreams from the earliest of days. Today is particularly poignant for my Mum. This is her first Mother's Day in 67 years that she has not shared with my late father. Hard to believe it has been six months already since he died. You are loved Mum.
A single guiding light burns brightly in the Steveston Harbour.
*** To give you a better perspective of this nautical scene, this image indirectly connects with my last post.. If you notice the wharf section to the right....it is the continuation of the same wharf from the previous photo on its left.
The scenic, Steveston Heritage Fishing Villiage is a charming fishing village that is situated in Richmond BC on the Mighty Fraser River
Definitely one of British Columbia's best kept secrets.

When the light of the day passes, the Cape May Lighthouse guides the weary fisherman back home. What is *your* guiding light when the world gets dark?
The sun will guide you, especially if it is painted on the tree. You may not notice at first as I didn't notice. But it is there, just give it a second look. Sometimes it is all about the second look, and the light doesn't always come from the sun on the sky.
Another photo from my old flickr, and I wish I could remember the sim, this was done last year around this time.
Brockton Point Lightstation
Stanley Park
Vancouver, B.C.
Canada
A Stanley Park showpiece.
A number of ship collisions in the waters around the point led to the construction of a lighthouse and signaling station at Brockton Point. For a time, Brockton Point had a lighthouse keeper, who served for 25 years starting in 1855 and is credited for having saved 16 people from drowning. The present day lighthouse tower with an automatic light was built in 1914. It was designed by Thomas Hayton Mawson, who also constructed the lifeboat house located below the point and other Stanley Park landmarks.

When I did my last photo I remembered Venxia, a place I have not visited a long time.
Venexia is a dark role-play SIM and in my opinion one of the building highlights in second life.

Guiding Light by Muse is fairly obvious for this shot, taken before sunset on the beach below the Southerndown cliffs. It was so still and so warm with no one else anywhere to be seen, a perfect way to spend a few hours.
Our guides, from Guilin Photography Tours, setup an opportunity to go into some peoples homes on our first day.
It's one thing to be walking around an ancient village but something else entirely to be invited into a home and photograph people within their surroundings.
This lady, to me, was absolutely beautiful both in her appearance and in spirit. So was so welcoming when we came in and was so willing to be a subject for our cameras.
This is one of my favourite moments from the trip and one of my favourite shots from the couple of weeks that I was in China.

“Twilight campfighter
You build your fire into an open wound
You want us to feel better
On these darker trails
With light revealing holy grails
To hike through dangerous weather
You need twilight eyes”

Leasowe Lighthouse on the Wirral, Merseyside, looks like it is out of it`s place being set back from the waters edge, almost like it was misplaced by aliens.
Tynemouth Pier extends 900 metres out to sea and the walk to the pier lighthouse is rewarded with some magnificent views of the river entrance and back towards Tynemouth Priory & Castle. The pier is a Grade II Listed building and dates back to Victorian times when its construction was a major feat of engineering.

The human eye needs a certain amount of time to get used to the alternation of light and dark, and this bridge is no exception. However, thanks to the bright strip of light on the ceiling, I couldn't get lost even during the day and reached the other side safely.
