One of the less clearly sign-posted waterfalls in Wales. I had to follow guide notes on various websites to find it. There was a good path and a bridge though. So I think that they wanted people to visit.

Portland Head Lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth, Maine

When the light of the day passes, the Cape May Lighthouse guides the weary fisherman back home. What is *your* guiding light when the world gets dark?

well our guide seemed relaxed, he was more interested in texts than anything else... if only we knew if he was guiding the shadows to us or showing our way out... oh... it would be so much more comforting if the exit was up rather than down... was crystal city above us or below?

...which I copied/painted in homage to Winslow Homer ...

an American landscape painter and illustrator, best known for his marine subjects. He is considered one of the foremost painters in 19th-century America and a preeminent figure in American art. Largely self-taught, Homer began his career working as a commercial illustrator. Wiki.

"Mud walking (in Dutch: wadlopen) is an exciting and adventurous way of acquainting oneself with a unique nature reserve, the Wadden Sea, also the largest continuous national park in Europe. During low-tide, shallows fall dry making it possible to cross the bottom of the sea.

These shallows consist of sandbanks, criss-crossed with trenches and gullies. During a typical mud walk, hikers wrestle through miles of mire and thigh-deep brown mud, wade through channels of waist high water before arriving on one of the islands in the Wadden Sea."

Make sure you have a guided tour and only when the weather conditions are right!

For now it was nice to make a very short walk ;-)) The Wadden Sea is such a great place to visit if you love nature and silence.

Happy monochrome Thursday !

Reddish Egret

The Reddish Egret (Egretta rufescens) is a medium-sized heron. It is a resident breeder in Central America, The Bahamas, the Caribbean, the Gulf Coast of the United States, and Mexico. There is post-breeding dispersal to well north of the nesting range. In the past, this bird was a victim of the plume trade.

According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, there are only 1,500 to 2,000 nesting pairs of reddish egrets in the United States — and most of these are in Texas. They are classified as "Threatened" in Texas and receive special protection.

Egrets are herons which have white or buff plumage and develop fine plumes (usually milky white) during the breeding season. Egrets are not a biologically distinct group from the herons and have the same build.

Angel Decor on Lamp shade

Another capture from my time in Tromso, Norway. Actually, tour guide took us about 45 minutes outside of Tromso. Because it was well after midnight when we made the journey, I have no real recollection where we were at. I remember the van stopping on the side of the road, being told "we're here" and thinking "really?!". Luckily, we walked down to a sandy area next to a fjord and was able to take in an amazing view. My only regret was not asking where we were ... now I don't know how to get back!

“Twilight campfighter

You build your fire into an open wound

You want us to feel better

On these darker trails

With light revealing holy grails

To hike through dangerous weather

You need twilight eyes”
