The big draw at Mashable House during SXSW 2014 was the opportunity to get a photo with the meme-tastic Grumpy Cat. I wasn't willing to wait in the huge queue that was outside the building when I first arrived, but the line was much shorter when I was leaving...so I hopped in line and got to have my photo taken with a very sleepy Grumpy Cat.

I needle felted a Grumpy Cat for my awesome friends in America.

On the afternoon of Day 2 of SXSW 2015 (Saturday, March 14), I ended up spending a good portion of my afternoon at the Friskies Haus of Bacon. The event, which took over Caffe Medici (200 Congress Ave.), featured themed artwork and appearances by a number of celebrity cats. Attendees had the opportunity to get their photo taken with the cats and receive a free print and digital image. We were encouraged to post photos on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #CatDreamsComeTrue; and for each tweet/post, Friskies pledged to donate cat food to shelter cats nationwide. Here, I had an opportunity to ''meet'' the perennially popular Grumpy Cat, who slept right through the photo op...just as she did when I met her last year.

Friday, March 11, marked Day 1 of SXSW 2016. While I was initially planning to catch the SXSW Film Festival's opening night premiere, I changed those plans after receiving this very kind invitation from Friskies via Facebook messenger. I saw that they were hosting a Grumpy Cat meet-and-greet, and I responded to their Facebook post to indicate I'd be there. Imagine my surprise when they sent this direct message to invite me to be a VIP at their private party! How could I possibly refuse? Attending the Friskies Cat Concoctions Party was one of the greatest highlights of SXSW this year!

I'm going away tomorrow to work (with over 100 teenagers) on a performing and visual arts camp for a week.

I don't think she really wants me to go because, while she is here looking rather cute, whenever I tried to take her out of the case she would growl and bite me... Poor Rubes {:-(
