These are some farm cats that aren't really fans of my dog being around. None of these animals were harmed as I am firmly against cruelty to animals and animal abuse. however, the emotion in these cats faces from my dog running around produce some spectacular results.

The Grumpy Cat is disappointed that your are not flossing! As a Dentist in Tigard, OR I talk to my patients all the time about the importance of flossing. Many of my patients are excellent flossers and have great oral hygiene, but then there are the select few who I have to really encourage to make sure they are flossing daily. I have been trying to find ways that I might encourage them a little more and I think I have found my answer…The Grumpy Cat.

Now image a poster of this little fella on your bathroom mirror or wall. How bad would you feel letting this guy down if you choose not to floss that night. Guilt can be a wonderful thing and can even encourage us to do things that normally we wouldn’t do. I hope that the Grumpy Cat will encourage not only my Tigard, OR patients, but all dental patients.

For Iron Craft #25 we were tasked with making a project in under an hour. It was great to take a break from making Christmas gifts and concentrate on something less exhausting.

I made a Grumpy Cat and a Pikachu Perler Bead ornament for my kids to hang on the tree.

Have a safe Christmas holiday Flickr friends!

I'm going away tomorrow to work (with over 100 teenagers) on a performing and visual arts camp for a week.

I don't think she really wants me to go because, while she is here looking rather cute, whenever I tried to take her out of the case she would growl and bite me... Poor Rubes {:-(

See you when I get back everyone!!

Trump & Erdogan were in Belgium for a NATO meeting.. and over 12000 Belgians took to the streets to protest their presidencies.

It’s objectively too late to restrain population and consumption growth so as to avert what ecologists of the 1970s called a “hard landing.”

It is the lie that human society can continue growing its population and consumption levels indefinitely on our finite planet, and never suffer consequences.

Perhaps Donald Trump succeeded because his promises spoke to what civilizations in decline tend to want to hear. It could be argued that the pluralistic, secular, cosmopolitan, tolerant, constitutional democratic nation state is a political arrangement appropriate for a growing economy buoyed by pervasive optimism. (On a scale much smaller than contemporary America, ancient Greece and Rome during their early expansionary periods provided examples of this kind of political-social arrangement). As societies contract, people turn fearful, angry, and pessimistic—and fear, anger, and pessimism fairly dripped from Trump’s inaugural address. In periods of decline, strongmen tend to arise promising to restore past glories and to defeat domestic and foreign enemies. Repressive kleptocracies are the rule rather than the exception.
