remember this photo? i knew when i did it originally, i wanted to execute this better.... so here is my second attempt. my husband is an AMAZING artist and he drew these gorgeous roses for me. it's NOT a tattoo (for my family's sake - i don't think they could take another one right now) ;-) i like this version SO much better. i need to be more patient when i have ideas in my head i'm learning. ;-)

Another one from Cornwall Ive reprocessed Im afraid, just cropped in tighter to get rid of soem distracting bluebells

I've looked and looked. I just see green.

I love walking where we plant our Christmas trees at any time, but it is especially cool when each branch has it's new growth. This was a month ago today.

I live in a community that exists originally because of the logging industry. About 25 minutes from where I live is, ironically, a section of old growth forest owned by a lumber mill. They designated part of their property as a preserve, however, so I can see towering beech and maple trees in there far larger than what you often see elsewhere. It's a great place to go in autumn and just take in the beauty of the woods as well as breathe in the unique scents of an old growth forest. It's also not a bad place to capture photos, and here's one of my old growth captures. I used the Canon RF 15-35mm F2.8L IS wide angle zoom on the Canon EOS R5 body. See my findings on the RF 15-35L here:

To me this amount of new growth at this time of the year seems wrong.

It's so strange to start this post with a number of 365. I'm sorry it's been so long since I've posted. I have caught up on some stuff that needed attention. I have also started planning on a shot I am really excited about. But, I couldn't wait until that image is done to get something up here, so I went out the other day and shot this.

I tried a few new techniques with this image, so in that regard I am happy with the final result. I am really excited to spend more time with images so I can continue to grow as an artist.

"What's really important is to simplify. The work of most photographers would be improved immensely if they could do one thing: get rid of the extraneous. If you strive for simplicity, you are more likely to reach the viewer." - William Albert Allard

Day 11

____________________________

As a way to cope with circumstances beyond my control, survive and work to keep fighting for life I decided to try to take at least one photo (or more) each day. I call this “a photo (or more) a day.” Practicing this form of therapeutic photography helps me work to focus on the present moment, gives me something familiar and enjoyable to focus on as I use photography skills that have become like second-nature to me and being able to view the images I capture helps me recall what I was thinking, feeling and noticing at the moment when I created the photos. More of the photos from this series can be seen on my Instagram account

I may not always have the energy, time or capacity to share photos from this series—especially with the very challenging circumstances my family and I are experiencing—and will do my best to continue taking a photo (or more) a day even if I’m not able to share.

Moving Forward

To share with JON! Our Horoscope!

Lucky Jupiter is moving into your sign this week. Basically, this marks the beginning of a new 12-year cycle of growth for you. This is a cycle during which you are intended to discover who you really are as a person. Jupiter is naturally associated with wealth and expansion but it is also a symbol of wisdom. Therefore, this year will be a time of learning and gaining new experiences for you. It will also be excellent in terms of your own personal good fortune. For example, important people and resources will be drawn to you almost by magic. Things will suddenly fit in place, which is why you will be considered to be "lucky."

LOL!! SO Jon.... who do you think we are?!! I'm sure we'll have a "magical" time finding out and enjoying our good fortune...and by the time the 12 year cycle ends... whoever we are will be really really OLD!! hahaha!!!

(learning, growing, becoming.... ♥)

What a month it has been!! I've had really awesome opportunities lately to do work for Microsoft (I made 60 images for them in one day, it was insane!) and I'll be speaking for a couple other interesting companies, too. It's honestly been madness over here as we try to settle from moving, I've been traveling left and right, I've got deadlines upon deadlines, emails upon emails, and I'm attempting to start a new business in the midst of it.

But life has been deeply good lately. I've been bursting into tears at all the happy things happening around me, from greeting cards to Star Trek, so that's how I know I'm peak happy right now. How are you?
