HMM!

Hello my friends and Happy Saturday to you. The weekend is finally here. Hello Fall!!!! The beginning of my fall posts start here featuring Trompe Loeil. I have shopped at the store for many years now and Cory Edo is such a sweet person. I have had to bother her in the past and she has always been so kind to me. I am delighted to have decorated this home. This lighthouse is so awesome and there is so many ways you can decorate it. SO many items in these pics so I am going to tag as many as I can. Full credits are on my blog along with 2 bonus outdoor pictures! Feel free to bookmark me! Thank you so much and I wish you a wonderful, safe and blessed weekend. xoxo, Ebony <3

I’m there. I’m old. At We’re Here! the theme today is growing old. But in my world, it’s a matter of growing older. Last November I had my first hip stress fracture. I’m back to daily photo walks again, and without my cane. But I keep it handy, just in case.

*** I am not sure of some of the etiquette when I post. Not sure if I should photo tag creators even when the item is barely able to be seen or not the main focus. SO I typically photo tag creators whose items are mainly seen. I do put normal tags for all creators whose items I am using with each picture though. Just not sure about photo tags.I just don't want to annoy anyone whose items is not seen well. Please pardon my lack of knowledge concerning this.****

Now it takes all night do do what we used to do all night!

The delights of getting old.

I am a salty old sailor, nurse, father and husband now. And you are not the same girl you were in 1984. When you left for New York I wished you well even though I secretly envied your ability to escape and become who you were destined to be. And I joined the Navy, shipped out for the far East to become who I was destined to be.

Some might see a crazy old cat lady. I don't think you'd mind that. But I see the same beautiful and extraordinarily gifted artist and wild untamed soul I knew back then. You never compromised or gave up on your dreams. And neither did I.

It is good that we have come together again. I've missed you. It is good that we can see each other as we were destined to become. It is the human condition that we must all grow old. But I'm telling you Linda, you are my link to that time when my potential was unlimited. When we were wild and free and art was all that mattered.

Como las plantas

Hopping blocks of childrens life. When the fun of small turns into the chore of age.....

Jan. 26th, 2007 I said goodbye to my grandad. The world will be a bit dimmer without this shining star.

How do you find you are getting old? Not by viewing in the mirror. Instead you have to acknowledge you are getting old when the youngster in your family is going to college and the last time you met with him, he was still a toddler!

Growing old is good. Growing old is bad.

Have a great weekend!

It's all around us, at our feet, and above our heads. Each one a unique transformation. Some more beautiful than before.

A grandmother and her granddaughter sit together on the stoop of a gated apartment entrance watching the flow of street life pass them by.

But when we were younger, when we were younger

I had the answers, I've gotta say

But all of my answers, now that I'm older

Turn into questions, in front of me

but in harmony with itself and full of potential for new growth.

So we all

Are growing old

And it's getting old

"I have known plenty of people who, in their later years, had the energy of children and the kind of curiosity and fascination with things like little children. I think we can keep that, and I think it's important to keep that part of staying young. But I also think it's great fun growing old."

-- Johnny Depp (American actor and musician)

This photo was taken in 2013 during my previous Project 365…please visit my album for this “REMASTERED” Project 365 as I revisit each day of 2013 for additional photos to share!!

Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D5200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.

The best way to view my photostream is through Flickriver with the following link: www.flickriver.com/photos/photojourney57/

Generally my mind is full of words, bits of sentences, people speaking in broad accents, jumbled up with songs and images. But if someone asks me to depict my inner landscape (which I suppose is the same thing as a mindscape) everything goes completely blank, a white page or a white canvas.

So it was hard to think up a series of mindscapes for the Big Project. Then I saw a skyful of clouds, and when transferring them from my phone came across this quote I'd photographed from Isabel Allende's book which had spoken to me when I read it, and thought the quote and clouds might fit together. Whether they constitute a mindscape I'm not quite sure.

Ralph McTell - Streets of London

Have you seen the old man in the closed down market?

Kicking up the papers with his worn out shoes

In his eyes you see no pride

Hand held losely by his side

Yesterdays papers telling yesterdays news

Refrain:

So how can you tell me

Youre lonely

And say for you the sun dont shine

Let me take you by the hand

and lead you through the streets of London

Ill show you something

To make you change your mind

Have you seen the old girl who walks the streets of London

Dirt in her hair and her clothes in rags

Shes no time for talking

She just keeps right on walking

Carrying her home in two carrier bags

Refrain

In the all night cafe at a quarter past eleven

Same old mans sitting there on his own

Looking at the world

over the rim of his teacup

Each tea lasts an hour and he wanders home alone

Refrain

well sometimes there are moments which are just so perfect that one wants to hold the time there and then...but time doesn't...what u can do best is to preserve that as a beautiful memory...forever..

that's taken while I was walking down on the sloane street in central London and saw this beautiful garden known as the Cadogan Palace Garden..I was adjusting my camera to capture this autumn tree because light conditions were not very good due to heavy dark clouds..and when i was almost done with exposure settings after few tries, this old couple passed by adding life to the composition...and i clicked..London is beautiful because of these gardens and parks, and it looks more beautiful in autumn...

and this reminded me another similar photo from Lebanon, here it is flic.kr/p/coegC3

The Cycle of Life: A Trio of Bush Sunflowers at Various Stages”

This image beautifully captures three bush sunflowers, each representing a different stage in their life cycle—from vibrant bloom to wilting and finally to a dried husk. It serves as a poignant reminder of the transient beauty and inevitable end that all living things share.

Moving thru time I have noticed the aging of my face and body. None of us can get out of this life without growing thru the process. I shall enbrace it as with growing up and falling in love and having children and being the best I can be. May we all be blessed with the Grace of aging.

Her Story: I visited with her three times a week. She was 94 years old and only 88 pounds. She would laugh when she told me that when she was bathed, she would float to the top of the water which made it difficult for the aids to get her washed up! She quit smoking at the young age of 92 only because she didn't have the strength to roll the ball on a lighter and when she tried to light her cigarette with a match, the match flew out of her hand and she caught her living room carpet on fire. She had lost one son in WWII and spent most of her life eating "Aydes" (a candy Diet Pill) so she could stay thin maintaining she was a "knock out" in her day. She despised the food at the facility she was living at and when I asked if I could bring her something that she enjoyed eating, her eyes lit up when she asked for a famous "Corner bar hotdog" (of course she chuckled when she asked if I could bring a beer with that!) When I showed up the next day at lunch, toting a paper sack, she knew she didn't have to sit at the table with all the other "old" people eating mashed peas and potatoes. Today, she would enjoy a trip down memory lane as she would savor the smells and taste of her meal bringing her back to her mind's replay of dinners spent with her husband at the Corner Bar when she was still young, in love and could enjoy a cold brew at the end of a long day. Amazingly that day, She managed to eat the whole hot dog. On one of my visits, she laid in bed too weak to get up. I held her hand as she wept. It was then, in her pain and exhaustion of living she whispered to me, " I just want my mama". I began to cry with her. Even at 94 years old, at a time of life she grew weary of being afraid of, she just wanted her mama. The depth of love between a mother & Child can never be measured here on earth and it is a reunion I deeply wish I could have seen.........

Nobody grows old merely by living a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. [Samuel Ullman]

On ne devient pas vieux pour avoir vécu un certain nombre d'années; on devient vieux parce qu'on a déserté son idéal. Les années rident la peau; renoncer à son idéal ride l'âme.
