Selkent route 284: Lewisham Station - Grove Park Cemetery

Approaching Grove Park Cemetery (M)

Stagecoach London started a new contract to route 284 from their new Kangley Bridge Road (KB) base on 17 March 2018. New E20D MMCs, 36671-84, completed the move away from Metrobus.

The name of the terminus might not suggest it, but it is actually quite scenic at this end of route 284. The top of Marvels Lane provides a suburban backdrop that corresponds with its residential settings. Despite running beyond the bus station, the 284 is a quicker option than counterpart route 181 via Ladywell and Catford.

I have enhanced the colour a bit as this is a phone shot. It was coming and going all day and this is the best of a few i took.

Another heritage livery this time its one of the E400 MMCs in Bromley to celebrate 100 years of said garage. "Diplomat" is the alternate name of Ambassador, which the latter is currently taken by 12345.

It's allocated to the 261 on paper but reblinds allow it to work on the Superloop SL3 as it did on its first day since repaint on September 19.

SER class F, built at Ashford entering service numbered 110 December 1895. SECR 110 in 1899. Rebuilt to class F1 June 1907. SR A110, later 1110, after the 1923 grouping. Withdrawn July 1946.

Built in 1930, this French Eclectic-style house in Asheville’s Grove Park-Sunset neighborhood stands at the corner where Country Club Road turns from a north-south road alongside the country club into an east-west road connecting to Kimberly Avenue. The house features a buff brick facade with a distinctive hipped green roof with diamond shingles, wall dormers on the second floor, casement windows on the first floor with arched surrounds, a glass and metal canopy over the front door, an attic dormer and casement window near the top of the roofline, a side porte-cochere with an arched opening and additional wall dormers above on the second floor, two octagonal rear towers, a rear deck with french doors, and a sun porch on the side facing the golf course. The house is one of the best examples of the French Eclectic style in the Asheville area, and is one of many excellent early 20th Century homes that can be found in the Grove Park-Sunset neighborhood that were built in response to the presence of the Asheville Country Club and Golf Course and the Grove Park Inn.

4-EPB Class 415 unit No. 5133 passes Grove Park working a Charing Cross to Bromley North empty stock movement

My second time riding a smart-hybrid MMC was OK if not great. Seats are very comfortable but they move at about half the pace of an older E400H and this engine really needs more torque. You can tell when drivers need more throttle up hills or trying to exceed 20mph; the engine sounds strained. Not as bad as a Gemini frog or an Evoseti but pretty close.
