So this is my extremely experimental version of my outing yesterday with Diana Pinto and Andrea Pun...I'm trying new things, that can never be bad, right? Well, the trying part isnt, but the outcome might be! Honesty welcome as always :P
On another note, I'll be away from the flickrverse from April 13-18 shooting my book! It will be bliss...one week of nonstop shooting in a cabin in the mountains!!
Btw, April Fools day is my least favorite day of the year because I am so gullible. I called my mom last nigh to tell her that I won't be speaking to her today :-P
Thank you for visiting - ❤ with gratitude! Fave if you like it, add comments below, order beautiful HDR prints at qualityHDR.com.
On the way back from the historical village of Shirakawa-go we spent an afternoon in Takayama, in the Gifu Prefecture of Japan. Takayama has nice old streets, well preserved from the Edo and Meiji period. Young tourists took a selfie with a stick.
I processed a balanced and a paintery HDR photo from a RAW exposure, merged them selcetively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and pulled the curves to pop the scene.

So, to continue with the prom theme... My eldest with three of her close friends.
Congratulations, ladies!
Being at the right place at the wrong time...The male cabin crew member on the plane was actually signalling another member of crew at the gate to begin boarding, as the man on the ground took a group selfie.(Explored)

I'm back to visit this incredible place.
You can see the pleasure all over my face.
The flowers greet you as you approach up the hill.
You can listen to their stories if you can sit and be still.
Words can't describe the scene to behold.
They are out there I tell you- consider yourself told.
Shall I keep it all intense or shall I keep it simple cool or shall I just bother about getting them all in one frame. Who says going digital makes life easy. Ask the person who’s in for a group selfie wondering which expression to give. How shall that one click define me. Wonder which one goes viral, at least within my circle. Who knows, they all might get posted and no single click can be risked. These are the group selfie pressures which mar us each time a hand goes extended with the camera facing us. :(
I tried post-processing this image, correcting the exposure and increasing the saturation. This is my first attempt at post-processing a picture this way, so I'd love some feedback if you have any.

She has a house & garden, I would like to see what happens.."
Listening to The Doors this afternoon during the storm.. here's another self-portrait from my Bohemian Garden photographic event at The Hacienda, London.
This entire set was created for said incredibly expensive specific photographic project where a portion of the proceeds went to the charity Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

When you hook up with your girlfriends and end up in a food coma..
Seriously though, this photo (and other group self-portraits to be posted over the next few days) has a little story.
In November 2019, I styled, directed, and modelled for a fairly large-scale photographic event over 8 days at The Hacienda London, with a total of 12 models, 16 photographers, countless various behind-the-scenes guys, beautiful vintage & Indian-inspired styling from All About Audrey (see last post) and collectively we raised over £1000 for Battersea Dogs & Cats home in London to help stray & abandoned pets find the forever home they deserve.
It's crazy to think this room was comparatively empty before I installed buckets of dried leaves, rose petals, sackcloth, rugs, all the bohemian table decor and of course a ukelele!
And much more out of shot which will be revealed in future posts, so stay tuned. I'm so excited to be able to share these photos with you as this is by far the largest scaled event I've ever styled & directed!

Have you got a song you could listen to over & over & it reminds you of a happy time?
Mine is probably the Beatles' Across The Universe - we listened to this, the whole of the Let It Be & Revolver albums and other non-stop sitar music during this wonderful 7-day shoot extravaganza.
I can't speak for the others, but couldn't get enough! Music is like a drug.

How do you create opulence?
- Use patterned or textured fabrics / surfaces
- Layer fabrics!
Layering is probably the most important thing you can do to create grandeur. When putting a set together, you always need at least three times the amount of props you think you need.
Here I have used various Indian saris as a backdrop behind a cream net canopy, layered with huge lace drapes, (and a few more for the covers on the bed) a Persian rug on the floor, fabrics hanging out of drawers in the chest & layered with strings of pearls & other jewellery, lots of leaves, flowers and pampas grass, which always contributes to a luxurious bohemian setting..
Attention to detail is so important, from the colour & shape of candles, to lace doilies, incense smoke, curtain tassels and the precise positioning of cushions..
Then you invite all your Queens over and realise you needed to build a bigger tent!

i have hipstamatic issues. i don't shake. but these gals do. :) it was so lovely to meet up with some flickr friends in baltimore today!
Not that I'm lamenting winter or anything, (I LOVE summer and don't want to jynx anything!) but there's nothing quite like getting cosy by the fire in a woolly jumper.
Vintage knitwear from All About Audrey is to die for and here is a self-portrait (I'm the wiggy blonde on the far left) with a bunch of amazing model friends at The Hacienda, London showcasing various stunning pieces - frilly ponchos, waistcoats, hats, etc.
The set design was put together by yours truly, and that huge pampas grass lantern is pretty much the actual size of my caravan back home. It's still hung up outside under the awning and has been there since this was taken in November 2019(!) I don't know what to do with it, it's huge.

Lokakshema.
What a wonderful word! It is Sanskrit for 'global wellbeing'
Let the entire world feel joy - ultimately this is the only thing which matters. We're living through a pandemic where our freedom of social interaction has temporarily been restricted but we must look out for others, now more than ever.
Don't take for granted the present moment, the joy of great food, silly things which make you laugh, good coffee, feeling sunshine on your face, celebrating life.
And if you can't lift yourself, lift someone else.
You are alive now.. act like it!

If you are pretending to be someone or something you're not, you will attract a tribe who do not have anything in common with who you really are.
I find this is super useful information for the birth & longevity of every healthy relationship, whether it's a friend or a love interest.
It's often the case & fairly well known that the best relationships aren't formed when you go looking for them, but when you work on yourself, date yourself, get to know who you are and indulge in a whole lotta self-love - you will radiate an energy which will attract like-minded people to you.
The higher your vibration, the higher the vibration of the person you'll attract.
So proud to show off these gorgeous print All About Audrey kimonos with these wonderful women in a Toulouki-styled set.

Last posting in series. I'm sure everyone (me included) is sick of it by now.

I was wandering around Piccadilly Circus hoping to catch a 'selfie' being taken when these four tourists obliged me. This is 3 exposures with -1+ stops bracketing, then Photomatix for HDR and tonemapping, and finally Photoshop for the finishing touches.
St. Patrick's Day, Dublin, Ireland, 17th March 2019
I met and photographed people from many Nationalities including Brazil, Chile, Venezuela, US, Canada, UK, Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, UK living in Spain, Romania, Croatia and India.
I caught this group of tourists about to take their group selfie outside Buckingham Palace and quickly took the shot, luckily I caught the guardsman between the railings and decided to turn this into a selective colour picture. This is 3 exposures with -1+ stops bracketing, then Photomatix for HDR and tonemapping, and finally Photoshop for the finishing touches.
