The greatest symbolism of the Dandelion flower comes from its unique puff-ball seed head rather than the sunny flower. Kids and adults alike pick the seed head – known as a clock in America and Europe for its shape – and blow the Dandelion seeds away while making a wish.

I'm trying to hold my breath

Let it stay this way

Can't let this moment end

You set off a dream in me

Getting louder now

Can you hear it echoing?

Take my hand

Will you share this with me?

'Cause darling, without you

All the shine of a thousand spotlights

All the stars we steal from the night sky

Will never be enough

Never be enough

Towers of gold are still too little

These hands could hold the world but it'll

Never be enough

Never be enough

For me

Never, never

Never, never

Never, for me

For me

Never enough

Never enough

Never enough

For me

For me

For me

All the shine of a thousand spotlights

All the stars we steal from the night sky

Will never be enough

Never be enough

Towers of gold are still too little

These hands could hold the world but it'll

Never be enough

Never be enough

For me

Never, never

Never, never

Never, for me

For me

Never enough

Never, never

Never enough

Never, never

Never enough

For me

For me

For me

For me

Ladies and gents, this is the moment you've waited for

Been searching in the dark, your sweat soaking through the floor

And buried in your bones there's an ache that you can't ignore

Taking your breath, stealing your mind

And all that was real is left behind

Don't fight it, it's coming for you, running at ya

It's only this moment, don't care what comes after

Your fever dream, can't you see it getting closer

Just surrender 'cause you feel the feeling taking over

It's fire, it's freedom, it's flooding open

It's a preacher in the pulpit and you'll find devotion

There's something breaking at the brick of every wall it's holding I'll let you now

So tell me do you wanna go?

Where it's covered in all the colored lights

Where the runaways are running the night

Impossible comes true, it's taking over you

Oh, this is the greatest show

We light it up, we won't come down

And the sun can't stop us now

Watching it come true, it's taking over you

Oh, this is the greatest show

The Gniezno Cathedral, together with the Lech Hill, is one of the greatest monuments in Poland.

In 999, the funeral of St. Wojciech and his canonization by Pope Sylvester II. In 1000 to tomb of St. Wojciech, Emperor Otto III arrived and it was so-called The First Congress of Gniezno. The Archdiocese of Gniezno and the First Ecclesiastical Metropolis in Poland, subject only to the Pope, were created. The silver reliquary of Saint Adalbert is located in the center of the Gothic chancel of the cathedral.

In 1025, Bolesław Chrobry was crowned king here, and after his death, his son Mieszko II. In 1076, Bolesław II Szczodry was crowned king of Poland.

In the cathedral, there are the famous Gniezno Doors depicting the biography of St. Wojciech. In the basement of the cathedral, you can see the relics of a stone building from the end of the 9th century, discovered during archaeological research, and fragments of the walls of the Basilica of Mieszko I.

During the first centuries of the emerging statehood, Gniezno was the capital of Poland. The last coronation of the King of Poland, Prince Przemysł II was in 1295. Wacław II of Bohemia was also crowned king here in 1300 after the armed seizure of Gniezno. In 1331, the Teutonic Knights entered the first capital of Poland, destroying the city and the temple.

I Zjazd Gnieźnieński. Utworzono archidiecezję gnieźnieńską i I metropolię kościelną w Polsce, podległą wyłącznie papieżowi.

W 1331 roku do pierwszej stolicy Polski wkroczyli Krzyżacy, niszcząc miasto i świątynię.

The Expiatory Church of the Sagrada Familia, known simply as the Sagrada Familia, is a Roman Catholic basilica in Barcelona, Spain, designed by architect Antoni Gaudí. Begun in 1882, it is still under construction (November 2016). It is Gaudí's masterpiece and the greatest exponent of Catalan modernist architecture.

The Sagrada Familia is a reflection of Gaudí's artistic plenitude: he worked on it for most of his professional career, but especially in his later years, where he reached the culmination of his naturalistic style, synthesizing all the solutions and styles he had tried up to that point. Gaudí achieved perfect harmony in the interrelationship between structural and ornamental elements, between plasticity and aesthetics, between function and form, between content and container, achieving the integration of all the arts into a structured and logical whole. The Sagrada Familia has a Latin cross plan, five central naves, a three-aisled transept, and an apse with seven chapels. It boasts three façades dedicated to the Birth, Passion, and Glory of Jesus. When completed, it will have 18 towers: four at each portal, making a total of twelve for the apostles, four over the transept invoking the evangelists, one over the apse dedicated to the Virgin, and the central dome tower in honor of Jesus, which will reach 172.5 meters in height. The temple will have two sacristies next to the apse and three large chapels: the Assumption Chapel in the apse and the Baptism and Penance Chapels next to the main façade. It will also be surrounded by a cloister designed for processions and to isolate the temple from the exterior. Gaudí applied a highly symbolic content to the Sagrada Familia, both in architecture and sculpture, dedicating each part of the temple to a religious significance.

Undoubtedly one of his greatest artistic endeavors even though a pope has to basically coerce him to take on the project, the paintings on Sistine Chapel Ceiling in the Vatican have been masterfully reproduced by using licensed high definition photography and then a specialized printing technique that emulates the look and feel of the original painting. Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition a traveling exhibition that allows one to see Michelangelo’s masterpieces up close and on Sunday my west coast damsel and I went to the Northern California exhibition at Davis on the grounds of U C Davis. Amazing the detail and accuracy of each biblical character definitely recommended for anyone who like me hasn’t been to the Vatican or the Sistine Chapel, plus this got us closer than one would ever get in Rome. The reluctant painter considered himself a master sculptor, but the Pope at the time needed the chapel to be finished under his watch, so Michelangelo would have to address the Sistine Chapel before he could sculpt the Pope’s tomb which he had already been commissioned. This image is of the creation of man, Adam as God provides him with the breath or spark of life. #sistinechapelexhibit

The greatest mystics have not been heretics but Catholic saints. In them “natural mysticism” which, like “natural religion,” is latent in humanity, and at the certain point of development breaks out in every race, came to itself; and attributing for the first time true and distinct personality to its Object, brought into focus the confused and unconditioned God which Neoplatonism had constructed from the abstract concepts of philosophy blended with the intuitions of Indian ecstatics, and made the basis of its meditations on the Real. It is a truism that the chief claim of Christian philosophy on our respect does not lie in its exclusiveness but in its Catholicity: in the fact that it finds truth in a hundred different systems, accepts and elucidates Greek, Jewish, and Indian thought, fuses them in a coherent theology, and says to speculative thinkers of every time and place, “Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, Him declare I unto you.”

-Evelyn Underhill, Mysticism, E. P. Dutton and Company (New York) pp. 105–6.

From the RSPB website:-

Shovelers (Anas clypeata) are surface feeing ducks with huge spatulate bills. Males have dark green heads, with white breasts and chestnut flanks. Females are mottled brown. In flight birds show patches of light blue and green on their wings. In the UK they breed in southern and eastern England, especially around the Ouse Washes, the Humber and the North Kent Marshes and in much smaller numbers in Scotland and western parts of England. In winter, breeding birds move south, and are replaced by an influx of continental birds from further north.

The UK is home to more than 20 per cent of the NW European population, making it an Amber List species.

To my greatest regret, I have to inform you that today is the last Poppy Monday (at least for this year). Next year there will (hopefully) be replenished again.

But considering the number of poppy fields I was able to visit this year (one), I am more than satisfied with the yield, not to say happy.

And so I wish you all a week (what else could come next) full of happiness and satifaction. And maybe a little anticipation for what's to come next year. And next year. And in the next... You understand the principle. 😉

The lion (Panthera leo) is a species in the cat family (Felidae). The lion is sexually dimorphic; males are larger than females with a typical weight range of 150 to 250 kg (331 to 551 lb) for the former and 120 to 182 kg (265 to 401 lb) for the latter. Male lions have a prominent mane, which is the most recognisable feature of the species.

A lion pride consists of a few adult males, related females and cubs. Groups of female lions typically hunt together, preying mostly on large ungulates. The species is an apex and keystone predator, although they scavenge when opportunities occur.

Typically, the lion inhabits grasslands and savannas but is absent in dense forests. It is usually more diurnal than other big cats, but when persecuted it adapts to being active at night and at twilight.

It has been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 1996 because populations in African countries have declined by about 43% since the early 1990s. Habitat loss and conflicts with humans are the greatest causes for concern. - Source Wikipedia

Not the greatest weather to start off another month of photography this weekend. I used what little good weather we had to explore some new places which I hope will provide some new opportunities and I also visited Summer Leys (where else!). The weather was verging on abysmal so it was definitely a day for sitting in a hide and thankfully this little egret was very obliging, fishing right in front of the hide.
