What would London probably without Parliament and the Big Ben? Not only the building itself, but also the lives of all around me interested. As it is so famous among all these buildings to life? Clear I come from Bavaria, am so used to the old stuff around me and yet London is but a completely different world for me.

My version of the typical London tourist Bus Shot.

Originally I selected a different bus shot, but had a feeling that this one had some potential. So I decided to color key the red of the bus and went for very different post processing of bus and background - both to help the bus pop out of the picture.

After the processing I was positively surprised how strong the picture felt and could not resist to post it.

One Canada Square, sometimes called Canary Wharf Tower or simply Canary Wharf, is a skyscraper in Canary Wharf, London. It was the tallest building in the United Kingdom from 1990 to 2010, standing at 770 feet (235 m) above ground level and containing 50 storeys. In late 2010, it was surpassed by the Shard (completed in July 2012).

One Canada Square was designed by architect Mr. Cesar Pelli, who based the design and shape on earlier precedents buildings that include Brookfield Place and Elizabeth Tower. The building is clad with durable stainless steel. One of the predominant features of the building is the pyramid roof, which contains a flashing aircraft warning light, a rare feature for buildings in the United Kingdom. The distinctive pyramid pinnacle is 800 feet (240 m) above sea level.

One Canada Square is primarily used for offices, though there are some retail units on the lower ground floor. It is a prestigious location for offices and as of May 2017 was 100% let. The building is recognised as a London landmark, and it has gained much attention through film, television, and other media as one of the tallest buildings in the United Kingdom

Liverpool skyline seen from across the Mersey River, England. I ended up not taking a single daytime photo during the entire 10 days of the UK trip because it was nothing but low clouds and haze.

A stormy evening on the Northumberland coast.

Lots of blues but too few vowels, evening view of Aberystwyth, Wales. Seaside towns in the UK feel a bit sad off season, but this one, even with a young student population, seemed quite depressing at street level, nothing stood out in particular, just the general atmosphere, the dismal hotel room and the gloomy weather had an effect as well.

Happy final weekend of 2024 to everyone.

Colour re-edit of a shot from November 2018 and title that came to mind and reminds me of an epic song by The Dream Academy in 1985. Enjoy!

Durham, England, blue hour under low clouds, two versions taken a few minutes apart, one has warmer tones, flickr chose the bluer one on top. Sorry for the delay, I meant to upload these yesterday but kept getting error messages when I tried to log on to flickr.

Looking up the Tower of Pembroke Castle

It's a woodland bird that has readily adapted to man-made habitats to become a familiar garden visitor. It can be quite aggressive at a bird table, fighting off smaller tits. In winter, it joins with Blue Tits and others to form roaming flocks which scour gardens and countryside for food.
