DRS 37 405 leads the short set through Reedham bound for the swing bridge and Lowestoft. A couple of photographers shoot the journey from the door windows filming what will soon be history. After Oct 20th Reedham and it's junction is being remodelled and relaid. No more semaphores and a different track layout.
I read an online article while in East Anglia that said Reedham is one of the best railway spots in the country. With it's working semaphores and signal box, two branch lines to the coast, an interesting track layout, loco hauled services and it's famous swing bridge and lastly ancient lineside telegraph poles with many of the insulators still on them! And then you have no less than five bridges to shoot from. Some of these things will be gone by 2019 and Reedham will be changed for ever.
On our usual trip to Norwich while in East Anglia it looked like 37 424/558 had failed being stuck on the blocks in the yard. (And apparently the 7.47am Short Set from Lowestoft had been cancelled that morning as well) So while there I photographed another of the large logo DRS 37s being substituted at the same time. 37 409 'Lord Hinton' had drawn up just ahead of 37 405 while a couple of train crew chatted alongside. As this shot was taken no less than 4 DRS Class 37s were in the yard at this point!

37405 and 37425 power the summer Saturday 2C58 12.18 Norwich - Great Yarmouth non-stop service, picture approaching Cantley. This was the third Saturday of class 37s working these services.
The signal on the left is Cantley's "Up Starter" (C3), while those on the right are "Down Fast Home" (C21) - and are East Anglia's last pair of co-acting semaphores (and one of the last few on Network Rail). While signal C3 was removed when Cantley was downgraded to crossing box status at the end of March 2019 (pending complete abolition in early 2020 when the Wherry Lines resignalling is completed), the co-acting semaphores survived as the only stop signal in the Reedham-bound direction.
