On board a glider, above Gray Rocks and St-Jovite, Québec, Canada. It was like a silent roller coaster ride where all you hear is the sound of the wind.
I forget who they were, what they were there for and why they gave a show where I was a ski patroler. Of course, and as usual, I always had my Minolta SLR with me in a holster. If you're going to photograph skiers, might as well do it right. And if you take your camera with you, it's for one thing... taking pictures.
I did the same thing when I got my first Canon digital DSLR. I took it everywhere with me. I even got me a sleeve to take pictures in wet environment, like on a water ski boat or a sailboat.
Since I've been skiing all my life, and because I very seldom fall (but when I do I do it big time...), I've no worries skiing with my full photographic equipment (DSLR, lenses, flash, tripod).

Heart shaped rocks that I round on the beach. The shapes were naturally formed by the waves. I have them in my etsy shop of the same name.

I love the way the shadows of leaves danced on these rocks.

This day I was out here hunting for river segments exposed to view by openings in the forest. Every time I found one I took a picture.

One of Gray Rocks Inn's marina employee in the mid-eighties enjoying a ride behind the hotel's J-Craft equipped with a 200hp Johnson outboard motor.
The original double black diamond, at Gray Rocks, Apollo Run had a pitch that was narrow, nearly vertical for a bit and ran right under the chairlift. So if you dared to go down, it had better be a good run.
This ski patroller was into telemarking. The conditions were just right, and down we went.

Gray Rocks' world famous Snow Eagle Ski School held a slalom race.
I parked myself right below the hardest gate on the course and let them come to me...
Back then, we used to ski on long, thin skis 200 to 210 cm, depending on whether the ski was a slalom (short radius turns) or a giant slalom (long radius turns) ski. The technique was much harder to master than it is today. Like all sports, skiing went through improvements that made it possible for a lot of so-so skiers to look good. Nothing beats technique and mileage.

Dragonflies are good to have around because they eat midges and mosquitoes.

I stood right below the hardest gate, in a blind spot. The best place to catch all of the action

Nothing like an overcast day to bring out the spectacular colors of the changing season. A break in the Dakota Hogback at the Western edge of the Denver metro area yields a mecca of colorful trees & brush.
