Took this photo on a brisk and beautiful January 2018 day right before sundown. The canyon walls create immense, graphic shadows at late day. I was blessed to find this spot where the last rays of sun were reflecting off winter's bare trees, creating an unusual Grand Canyon composition. Sometimes high contrast can be a positive, albeit difficult to photograph.

I’ve always been rather attracted to this Papermate propelling pencil because of its transparent barrel and the details of the spiral mechanism for extruding the graphite. Oh, and the colour… So I could hardly resist when the spiral topic came around again for Macro Mondays.

A bit of a rush job though - one take and then a patch-up in the processing. Had I had more time I think I would have used a tripod and focus stacking (or a different lens). Ah well…

This is vaguely what I intended, or at least an inch and half of it anyway. The full pencil is more interesting :)

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Macro Mondays :)

Unmögliches wird möglich.

The impossible becomes possible.

Somehow, this wall background showed off the beauty of tulips to good effect.

Who knew?

I guess it is because the wall is a regularly structured uniform surface in a contrasting color,

but not a blank surface. There is just enough structure and bland-but-deep, warm color

for us to know it isa "nice" wall. However, there is not enough to the wall to drag our attention away

from either the tulips or the little volunteer primulas and mini geese flowers in the lawn.

These latter pretty little things in the foreground shield us from having to see that

the beautiful tulips are standing in plain old dirt. 😎

An image that will challenge the purists but nevertheless appeals to me. Pretty well full-frame, it was taken at Wemyss Bay station, and given a graphical twist.
