Das kleine provenzalische Dorf Aiguines hat einen Logenplatz an einem Berghang oberhalb des Lac de Sainte-Croix und bietet eine wunderbare Aussicht über den See und das dahinter beginnende Plateau de Valensole.Oberhalb von Aiguines kann man die kleine romanische Kapelle Saint-Pierre besichtigen, von hier hat man auch den schönsten Ausblick über den Lac de Sainte-Croix. In Aiguines beginnt auch die südliche Straße entlang der Verdonschlucht.
Nebenbei: Der Lac de Ste. Croix ist der größte Trinkwasserspeicher der Provence.

Die Spuren im Schnee sind wahrscheinlich von einer Berggemse. Der Blick geht hinüber zum Dachstein in der Ferne.
The traces in the snow were probably left behind by a chamois. The view goes to the Dachstein in the distance.
By the way, when viewed on black, the effect is really something!

Nature has endowed the relief of this vast rock formation with incredible colors. In Spanish, the Valle del Arcoiris means "Valley of the Rainbow", a name worthy of this grandiose landscape of red, white, yellow and brown cliffs standing out against the blue sky. This emblematic site of San Pedro de Atacama attracts visitors from all over the world to admire its splendid colors.

In 1886, the writer Guy de Maupassant published his eyewitness account of Monet at Étretat. "The artist walked along the beach, followed by children carrying five or six canvases representing the same subject at different times of the day and with different effects. He took them up and put them aside by turns according to changes in the sky and shadows." Monet painted the dramatically arched projection in the cliff at Étretat six times from this angle: twice during each of three visits to the Normandy coast in 1883, 1885, and 1886. He refined the pictures in his studio.

Ce vieux pont est le passage obligé pour accéder au cirque de Consolation.
Ce site naturel grandiose de la vallée du Dessoubre, au coeur de la Franche Montagne en Pays horloger comtois est particulièrement verdoyant et reposant. En franchissant ce pont, on entre dans un monde un peu mystérieux, comme hors du temps. On s’y promène entre rochers et torrents, sous le couvert d’une forêt moussue parcourue de nombreuses résurgences d’eau, qui nous emmène loin de la civilisation.
Si on a un peu de chance, après un épisode de fortes pluies, on peut y admirer l'impressionnante cascade du Lançot.
Un monastère de l’ordre des Minimes y a été fondé au XVIIème siècle. Les bâtiments ont été rénovés pour héberger des visiteurs.
C'est un lieu pour les randonneurs mais aussi pour les contemplatifs et les amoureux de la nature.
L’ensemble est classé aux Monuments historiques depuis 1913.

This old bridge is the obligatory passage to access the Cirque de Consolation.
This grandiose natural site in the Dessoubre valley, in the heart of the Franche Montagne in the Comtois watchmaking region, is particularly green and relaxing. By crossing this bridge, we enter a somewhat mysterious world, as if out of time. We walk there between rocks and torrents, under the cover of a mossy forest traversed by many resurgences of water, which takes us far from civilization.
If you are lucky, after a period of heavy rain, you can admire the impressive Lançot waterfall.
A monastery of the Minimes order was founded there in the 17th century. The buildings have been renovated to accommodate visitors.
It is a place for hikers but also for contemplatives and nature lovers.
The whole has been classified as a Historic Monument since 1913.
Auf dem 3057 m hohen Gipfel des Piz Nair, hoch über St. Moritz, bietet sich eine wahrlich phantastische Rundsicht. Es reihen sich Berggipfel an Berggipfel. Am Fusse der Berge liegen die bekannten Orte Silvaplana und Surlej, die direkt an der Kreuzung vom Inn und Julierpass (2284 m) liegen. Der Silvaplanersee geht an einer Engstelle in den Champfèrsee über.
Eine Viertelstunde nach dieser Aufnahme hat es begonnen zu schneien. Was für eine Stimmung!

Collégiale Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul d'Évaux-les-Bains (11ème au 15ème s., classée MH, 1841)
L'histoire du monument commence lorsque des chanoines se regroupent autour des reliques de l'ermite Marien, mort en 513, située dans la vieille cité thermale romaine d'Évaux.
C'est pour accueillir les pèlerins qu'est construite cette magnifique et grandiose collégiale. Les chanoines commencent par l'édification du clocher ouest au 11ème siècle, le dernier étage est du 13ème siècle. La nef fait elle la transition du roman vers le gothique.

Collegiate church of Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul d'Évaux-les-Bains (11th to 15th century, listed as a French National Historic Monument, 1841)
The history of the monument begins when canons gather around the relics of the hermit Marien, who died in 513, located in the old Roman spa town of Évaux.
This magnificent and grandiose collegiate church was built to welcome pilgrims. The canons begin with the building of the west bell tower in the 11th century, the top floor is the 13th century. The nave makes the transition from Romanesque to Gothic.

Dettifoss is a waterfall in Vatnajökull National Park in Northeast Iceland, and is the most powerful waterfall in Europe.
The Bibi-Khanym Mosque is one of the most important monuments of Samarkand, Uzbekistan. In the 15th century, it was one of the largest and most magnificent mosques in the Islamic world. y the mid-20th century, only a grandiose ruin of it survived, but major parts of the mosque were restored. Legend has it that Timur's favourite wife Bibi Chanum surveyed the construction.

Little Prince and Mr. Elephant can get enough of this landscape… They are on a tiny blue planet (I don’t think it is the earth but who knows ? Those two are very experienced space travellers…) and the sunsets are absolutely amazing over there. You must admit : it looks very spectacular ! Of course, everything in this picture, except Little Prince and Mr. Elephant, is very, very imaginary and it is very, very possible I will never be able to recreate such a grandiose sunset …It is truly a miss and try process with a lot of guessing. And the results are truly a huge surprise each time !

Like a spaceship from another world, the Basilica di San Lorenzo towers over the roofs of Florence. While most of the city is still asleep, it towers brightly lit up into the morning sky.
This grandiose 15th-century structure fascinated me from the moment I saw it the night before, upon my arrival.
Already in the year 393 (imagine that) a basilica was consecrated here. The famous Medici family, one of the most influential dynasties in Italy at the time, commissioned their new building. Three popes and one queen of France come from the family, that's saying something. And none other than the famous painter, sculptor, architect and poet, Michelangelo Buonarroti, was directly involved in this construction.
Since I was so excited, and as you can probably tell I still am, I took another photo two hours later, when the sun had risen. In the glow of the morning sun it looks completely different but just as impressive. You'll see that another time.
Wie ein Raumschiff aus einer anderen Welt tront sie über den Dächern von Florenz, die Basilica di San Lorenzo. Während die Stadt zum größten Teil noch schläft ragt sie hell erleuchtet in den morgentlichen Himmel empor.
Dieses grandiose, aus dem 15 Jahrhundert stammende Bauwerk hat mich von dem Moment an faziniert, als ich sie in der Nacht vorher, bei meiner Ankunft, das erste Mal gesehen habe.
Bereits im Jahr 393 (stell sich das mal einer vor) wurde hier eine Basilika geweiht. Ihren Neubau gab die berühmte Familien Medici, damals eine der einflußreichsten Dynastien in Italien in Auftrag. Drei Päpste und eine Königin von Frankreich entstammen der Familie, das will was heißen. Und kein geringerer als der berühmte Maler, Bildhauer, Architekt und Dichter, Michelangelo Buonarroti, war direkt an diesem Bau beteiligt.
Da ich so begeistert war, und wie man vielleicht merkt immernoch bin, habe ich zwei Stunden später, als die Sonne aufgegangen war, noch ein weiteres Foto gemacht. Im Schein der Morgensonne wirkt sie völlig anders doch genau so beeindruckend. Das seht Ihr dann ein anderes Mal.

During many tour I made up to the peaks of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, I’ve seen and experienced many things. That view I whitnessed here was a premiere for me too. I’ve never seen so much fog on this place before. To give you an expression, the single rock sticking up in the background, the Falkenstein, is almost 400 meters high. To stand above that ocean, that magnificence feels so terrific that I'm almost unable to describe it.
Auf meinen vielen Touren hinauf zu den Gipfeln des Elbsandsteingebirges habe ich ja schon einiges gesehen und erlebt. Dieser Anblick, der sich mir hier bot, war jedoch auch für mich eine Prämiere. So viel Nebel habe ich an dieser Stelle noch nie gesehen. Damit ihr mal ein Gefühl dafür bekommt, der einzelne Felsen, der im Hintergrund empor ragt, der Falkenstein, ist fast 400 m hoch.. Über diesem Meer, dieser Pracht zu stehen ist ein grandioses Gefühl, was sich kaum beschreiben lässt.

Berlin, Karl-Marx-Allee
When I was a young girl, I often went to visit my friends in West Berlin. They took me to East Berlin and we went to a fantastic music store on Karl-Marx-Allee, where we bought our sheet music for flute and piano. This shop was as huge and grand as a cathedral of music. It was always a highlight for me. Even if Karl-Marx-Allee has changed a lot, its architecture still exudes this grandiose charm today, and I love this avenue very much. Cycling on the side paths under the old trees is my absolute tip. Despite the hustle and bustle of the big city, it is very relaxed here.

Si les chutes sont grandioses et très impressionnantes, c'est d'abord pour la beauté du site et pour le très fréquent arc-en-ciel qui les chapote. Selon la saison et la météo du moment, elles offrent un spectacle différent, aussi resplendissantes au soleil d'été que partiellement figées par la glace en hiver.

If the falls are grandiose and very impressive, it is first and foremost for the beauty of the site and for the very frequent rainbow that covers them. Depending on the season and the weather at the time, they offer a different spectacle, as resplendent in the summer sun as partially frozen by ice in winter.

Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe is a unique landscape park in Kassel, Germany. Art historian Georg Dehio (1850–1932), inspirator of the modern discipline of historic preservation, described the park as "possibly the most grandiose combination of landscape and architecture that the Baroque dared anywhere" ("vielleicht das Grandioseste, was irgendwo der Barock in Verbindung von Architektur und Landschaft gewagt hat.").
The area of the park is 2.4 square kilometres (590 acres), making it the largest European hillside park, and second largest park on a mountain slope in the world. Construction of the Bergpark, or "mountain park", began in 1696 at the behest of the Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel and took about 150 years.

What a gorgeous day! The view of the wonderful panorama changed continuously with the fog. We enjoyed the peaceful silence and the feeling of freedom - such days should never end...

The Grand cascade is the most grandiose fountain construction of the Peterhof ensemble and one of the most outstanding creations in the world.
The historical timber framed building of the Maria's Pharmacy in the bavarian town Rothenburg ob der Tauber is, especially at the evening time, a terrific view. The pharmacy is existing here since the year 1812. Before that, this building was used as the town hall. The building itself was built already in the 14th centure. I'm impressed. I wonder, how life was on this place more than 600 years ego.
Das historische Fachwerkgebäude der Marien Apotheke in Rothenburg an der Tauber ist, vor allem am Abend, ein grandioser Anblick. Die Apotheke gibt es hier bereits seit 1812. Vorher befand sich hier das Rathaus der Stadt. Das Gebäude selbst stammt bereits aus dem 14. Jahrhundert. Ich bin beeindruckt. Ich frage mich, wie das Leben wohl an diesem Ort vor mehr als 600 Jahren gewesen sein mag.

Leaving civilisation behind always fills me with great peace and tranquillity. The beauty of the mountains with their mysterious aura awakens my soul to new life.
After the descent from Sunnegga (see picture "Moonrise over the Adlerhorn") I experienced this impressive evening atmosphere. I have been to Zermatt many times before, as it is an area I like very much, but I had never seen such fiery clouds over the Matterhorn before. It was a magnificent spectacle how the clouds spread like fire over the summit - an experience of a very special kind...

Die Zivilisation hinter mir zu lassen, erfüllt mich immer mit großer Ruhe und Gelassenheit. Die Schönheit der Berge mit ihrer geheimnisvollen Ausstrahlung erweckt meine Seele zu neuem Leben.
Nach dem Abstieg von Sunnegga (siehe Bild "Moonrise over the Adlerhorn") erlebte ich diese beeindruckende Abendstimmung. Ich war schon oft in Zermatt, da es eine Gegend ist, die ich sehr mag, aber so feurige Wolken über dem Matterhorn hatte ich noch nie gesehen. Es war ein grandioses Schauspiel, wie sich die Wolken wie Feuer über dem Gipfel ausbreiteten - ein Erlebnis der ganz besonderen Art...
Das kleine Stück des Osthimmels, dass ich von meinem Schlafzimmer sehen kann, lieferte ein grandioses Farbspektakel. Ich wäre so gerne draußen gewesen, aber ich hatte einen grauen wolkenverhangenen Tag erwartet, was es auch wurde.
The small piece of eastern sky that I can see from my bedroom provided a terrific color spectacle. I would have loved to be outside, but I expected a gray cloudy day, which it turned out to be.
After climbing above the village of Pierreclos in the Mâconnais, I admired its castle all along the way, it was particularly beautiful in this autumn landscape under the sun.
Perched on a rocky outcrop in the heart of the vineyard, this impressive medieval castle built from the 12th century has been described by the poet Alphonse de Lamartine, familiar with the place: "in the south, the village of Pierreclos and its old castle of grandiose turn ... ".
This stronghold has gone through the great periods of French history: the Hundred Years War, the Wars of Religion, the French Revolution, and since the 17th century has evolved into a castle and pleasure gardens.

Un château en automne
Après être monté au dessus du village de Pierreclos dans le Mâconnais, j'ai admiré son château tout au long du chemin, il était particulièrement magnifique dans ce paysage d'automne sous le soleil.
Juché sur un éperon rocheux au cœur du vignoble, ce château médiéval impressionnant construit à partir du 12ème siècle a été décrit par le poète Alphonse de Lamartine, familier des lieux : « au midi, le village de Pierreclos et son vieux château de grandiose tournure … ».
Cette place forte a traversé les grandes périodes de l’histoire de France : la guerre de cent ans, les guerres de religion, la révolution française et évolue depuis le XVIIème siècle en château et jardins d’agréments.

In 4.478 Metern Höhe erstreckt sich das majestätische Matterhorn – der wohl bekannteste Berg Europas – in atemberaubendem Alpen-Panorama. Bei Sonnenuntergang ein grandioses Schauspiel (Riffenberg Zermatt).
A sublime sunrise at lake Quitzdorf. And what are the party people doing ? Laying sleeping in their tents. I did reatreat betimes because I didn't want to miss that moment at all. On the photographs, I already posted from that morning You can see, that it was more than worth it.
Sometimes it is nessecary to set priorities, no matter what all the others are doing.
This shot was made, when I was on my way back to bed or better back to sleeping bag.
Ein grandioser Sonnenaufgang am Quitzdorfer See und was macht die Party Gesellschaft ? Liegen in Ihrem Zelt und schlafen. Ich hatte mich bei Zeiten zurück gezogen, denn ich wollte diesem Moment unbedingt erleben. An den Fotos, die ich von diesem Morgen bereits gepostet habe könnt ihr sehen, dass sich das mehr als nur gelohnt hat
Manchmal muss man halt Prioriäten setzen und das unabhängig davon, was all die anderen machen.
Diese Aufnahme entstand, als ich auf dem Weg zurück in Bett war, naja eher zurück in den Schlafsack.

If you are traveling a lot professionally like me and taking every opportunity to pursue your passion, you have to live with the general conditions that are given to you. The grandiose sunset, no matter how much I wished for it, can literally fall into the water, easily.
After all, life doesn't just consist of epic moments. Then you have to make the best out of every situation. Like on this rainy day in the Allgäu Alps which I still really enjoyed.
Wenn man, so wie ich, beruflich viel unterwegs ist und jede Gelegenheit nutzt um seiner Leidenschaft nachzugehen, muß man mit den Rahmenbedingungen leben, die einem gegeben werden. Da kann der grandiose Sonnenuntergang, ganz gleich wie sehr ich ihn mir gewünscht hatte, sehr schnell auch mal sprichwörtlich ins Wasser fallen.
Doch das Leben besteht schließlich auch nicht nur aus epischen Momenten. Da gilt es dann aus jeder Situation das Beste zu machen. Wie an diesem Regentag im Allgäu, den ich trotzdem sehr genossen habe.

A field near the town Oberwarthe in Saxony. I drive by here once a year and see what's actual growing. Sometimes everything is completely covered in poppies and sometimes, like here, they show up just as a splash of color in the green of the cornfield, along with the blue cornflowers and white blossoms that I can't name right now.
Even if I would never compare myself to this grandiose painter, the view reminds me a lot of a painting by Monet. As if the artist had only sprayed the colors onto the green background with a brush.
This picture was taken last year. This year I haven't had time to go on a poppy field excursion. I really hope that I can make this possible in the next week.
Ein Feld in der Nähe von Oberwarthe in Sachsen. Ich fahre jedes Jahr hier einmal vorbei und schaue mir an, was gerade wächst. Manchmal ist alles komplett von Mohn bedeckt und manchmal, so wie hier, zeigt er sich nur als Farbtupfer im Grün des Getreidefeldes zusammen mit den blauen Kornblumen und weißen Blüten, die ich gerade nicht namentlich benennen kann.
Auch wenn ich mich niemals mit diesem grandiosen Maler vergleichen würde, so erinnert mich der Anblick doch sehr an ein Bild von Monet. Als hätte der Künstler die Farben nur mit dem Pinsel auf den grünen Untergrund gespritzt.

UN LIEU SANS NOM
La beauté du monde ne réside pas uniquement dans ces lieux grandioses qui nous émerveillent tous.
Ses plus belles et touchantes manifestations se révèlent souvent à nous dans ces simples harmonies naturelles sans prétention, que l’on trouve souvent dans des lieux sans nom, à l’écart des chemins les plus fréquentés.
Et c’est là, loin de la foule et du bruit incessant du monde, que nous pouvons entendre et ressentir, dans sa plus simple expression, la musique de nos origines.
