View looking north at Henning, IL towards Rossville Junction and CSX's ex-C&EI Chicago-Evansville mainline.

This line was originally built by the C&EI in 1893 to bypass Danville via Rossville and Sidell. This reduced the railroad's mileage between Chicago and St. Louis and made it more competitive with other carriers. Its role as the mainline to St. Louis and Southern Illinois, however, was short-lived. In 1905, with the financial backing of the Frisco, the C&EI completed the Woodland Cutoff between Villa Grove and Woodland. The Rossville Jct. - Sidell Jct. line was relegated to branch line status. When the Missouri Pacific and L&N split the C&EI in 1969, the MoPac got the line south of Jamaica and the L&N got the line north of Brothers. The Henning Branch was finally abandoned in 2008 after it was determined that the bridge over the North Fork of the Vermillion River was no longer safe to use and would require costly repairs.

Built in 1862 and restored in 2004, it was in operation up until 1982 Get ready for more...I spent an hour poking around...=-)

One of the elevators in Julesburg, CO. This elevator was built by Borton. There's another concrete elevator in town, but I didn't get the greatest picture of it.
