I managed to pursuade my dad to sit for a portrait on my Speed Graphic.
Shot as part of a larger personal project I'm currently working on.

Second shot taken with my Speed Graphic 4x5 Large Format camera.
I'm really loving the Shanghai sheet film - it really is superb!
Speed Graphic (Xenar 135mm f4.7) - Shanghai GP3 100 - LC 29 (1:19 20degrees 6:30min)
Graflex Speed Graphic 5x4 • Fomapan 100 • 100 ISO • 1/25 sec • f/11
Developed in HC-110 • Dil. H • 9 mins • 20 degrees C • Scanned with Epson V700
The results are in - my first ever exposed sheet of 5x4 (or 4x5 for non-Europeans)! This shot was a bit rushed really, taken from our bedroom window (see the Instagram shot next to this one in my stream for the rough setup). I couldn't mount the camera on a tripod because the window sill is too deep and with the angle of view I'd have the window frame in shot. So the camera was moving around when trying to make adjustments and, worse still, when putting the film holder into the back. Thankfully the built-in viewfinder was there to save the day so I could double check the framing before releasing the shutter. The light was changing so rapidly, the sun was going down and also in and out of clouds, it was all a bit stressful for a first 'test shot'!
The view doesn't really work too well as 5x4 ratio, so I cropped the uninteresting sky and foreground to make a panorama.
The intrepid Portal23 in his native habitat. Brandishing his newly aquired, but hardly new, Speed Graphic camera.
Graveyard off Route 9 near Goosefare Bay in Kennebunkport, Maine. As I was taking this, a woman came down from across the street advising "this is private property."
I bought some 4x5 holders off the bay and they had some sheets of film in them. So why not do some test shots using the Kalart Rangefinder on my Speed Graphic? I had no idea what speed film it was, so I just shot at ISO 200 and developed in Diafine hoping it would compensate for any under/over-developed parts.
Turned out to be TMax 100, which in the past has not resulted in great results with Diafine, but these turned out pretty good.
