In 1955, the list price for a Porsche 550 was $6,800 U.S. dollars.
The model Porsche 550 Spyder was introduced at the 1953 Paris Auto Show and was very low to the ground, in order to be efficient for racing. In fact, former German Formula One racer Hans Herrmann drove it under closed railroad crossing gates during the 1954 Mille Miglia.
Perhaps the most famous of the first 90 Porsche 550's built was James Dean's "Little Bastard", numbered 130 (VIN 550-0055), which Dean fatally crashed into Donald Turnupseed's 1950 Ford Custom on September 30, 1955.
As Dean was finishing up Giant’s filming in September, 1955, he suddenly traded in his 356 Porsche Super Speedster at Competition Motors for a new 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder on September 21st and immediately entered the upcoming Salinas Road Race event scheduled for October 1st and 2nd.

So, the drama of the morning was Mum's legs giving way while she was transferring from the toilet to the wheelchair. She slid to the floor, and it was a bit tricky to get her up in such a confined space, but I managed. I then decided that I needed to take away the toilet frame which provides arms either side of the toliet, as it prevents the wheelchair from getting in close. I also went along to the Assured Mobility shop along the road, to get some suction grab handles which help to give something for Mum to hold on to. It's still tricky, though, with her legs being so weak.
Before our late lunch, I went down to Olive's to take her shopping and sort out her washing.

After following Starwood Motors on twitter and youtube for over a year, my son talked me into visiting their showroom in far north Dallas. It’s impressive to say the least. This place is like Disneyland for anyone interested in custom Jeeps, high-end exotics or American muscle cars. The showroom is enormous and filled with candy-colored Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Porsches not to mention bad to the bone Jeeps. As soon as we parked out front, he started recognizing some of the Jeeps he’d seen them showcase in youtube videos. They made us feel at home the minute we walked in the door and also answered a ton of questions. Cool place. Shown is a WWII-themed 2015 Ruf-Nek SEMA Custom. Exterior has a rust patina finish on the exterior and “bomber” style sets with leather upholstery. It is powered by a 3.6L V6 24v VVT Engine. This is one of the coolest Jeeps we saw that day.
