This male Cape May Warbler is a long way from its wintering grounds in the Caribbean. A mega rarity, first sighting of this species in this part of British Columbia.

After a little incident the the other week when he decided to snap the long line and end up in the middle of nowhere on a snowy hillside wrapped round a tree and spending a rather cold night alone (not that he was bothered in the least it seemed) I've invested in one of these little gadgets. .. all I can say is wow! (pitpat) I suppose it also means my other half can always see where I am ... and be impressed with my fortitude when she sees me zooming up and down the hills!! :)

Still together in work train service, CMQ 9017 & CMQ 9011 lead CP GPS-03 over the St. Lawrence River. Up front are loaded ballast cars picked up from the VTR interchange at Whitehall and behind is mixed freight from Saratoga Springs.

A CP ballast train powered by CP 5792 is passing the Île-Perrot Station. CP 5792 is one of the few CP SD40-2's to have a beaver on the long hood.
Still dumping south of Cedar Grove. A mishap in hearing the trains original warrant stopped us from going any further
Birds are moving, never know what can show up, this mourning saw the Eagle hit the water ...no shot .... then land in a nearby tree. After the shot I noticed the bands on his legs and then saw the transmitter on his back...crazy..
I have the band number and sent photos to NYSDEC hopefully get some info, would be nice to know !

Wenn man Kleinzwettl (GM Gastern) in östlicher Richtung nach Frühwärts auf der L 8137 verlässt, steht an der Kreuzung dieses etwa 4,7m hohe Wegekreuz aus Schremser Granit. Es ruht in 512m SH im Ried "Streitfeld" auf einem rechteckigen Grundfundament auf dem sich ein konkav noch obenhin geschwungenes Postament aufliegt. Sockel, Postament und Deckplatte sind aus einem Stück Granit gefertigt. Am Postament eine leider wegrestaurierte Inschrift und ein Stiftungsdatum: "JOS. KUR(TZ).1860". Auf der gestuften überkragenden Deckplatte ein rechteckiger Sockel auf dem ein weiteres kleines geschwungenes Postament aufliegt. Seine geschwungenen Innenkonturen zeigen Blattgravuren mit unterhalb eingerollten Enden. Zentral in der Mitte ein Lebensbaum. Dieser Baum des Lebens ist in der Religionsgeschichte ein weitverbreitetes Fruchtbarkeitssymbol sowie ein Schöpfungsmythos. Er steht als Weltachse im Zentrum der Welt, seine Wurzeln reichen tief in die Erde und seine Wipfel tragen den Himmel. Somit verbindet er die drei Ebenen: Himmel, Erde und Unterwelt. Am kleinen Postament ein Sims auf dem sich das Hochkreuz, mit Kleeblattenden und Steingloriole, erhebt. Zentral am Kreuz ein polychromer Blechschnittherrgott vom 3-Nagel-Typus. Er zeigt Jesus Christus am Kreuz mit einer Dornenkrone, einer goldenen Gloriole und er ist bekleidet mit einem Lendenschurz. Über dem Gekreuzigten eine hängende Blechfahne mit den Initialien: INRI (Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudorum), darauf. Unter Jesus Christus ein bogiges polychromes Blechbild mit der trauernden Mutter Gottes darauf. Hinter dem Kreuz mehrere Koniferen. An seiner Stelle stand ursprünglich ein alter Pfeiler an einer Kreuzung an der sich einst 5 Wege trafen.
