The Governors Ball Music Festival (commonly known as Governors Ball, Gov Ball or Gov Ball NYC) is a multi-day music festival held on Randall's Island in New York City. Launched in 2011, the festival features an array of genres and styles of music, including rock, electronic, hip-hop, indie, americana, pop, folk, and more. It is produced by Founders Entertainment, an independent festival promotion company based in New York City. Aside from the wide variety of music, the festival features a multitude of popular NYC restaurants and food trucks, as well as a slew of activities, such as a Silent Disco, ping pong, photo booths, and lawn games.

Dallas Frasca is an Australian three piece rock band from Melbourne. In 2015 they signed with Australia label Social Family Records. On April 17, 2015 the three piece (no bass) released their third studio album, 'Love Army' recorded by New York-based producer, Andy Baldwin. The album hit the Top 20 ARIA Charts and Top 10 Australian Album Charts in its first week of release.
Front woman, Dallas began to sing at aged 18, when she discovered her singing ability at a housewarming party.[1] The bands career kicked off in 2006, when they won triple j’s “Light Your Fuse” competition.[2]
In 2012 Dallas Frasca came third for their song "All My Love" in the AAA category of the International Songwriting Competition (ISC) [3] with over 16,000 entries and judged by Ozzy Osbourne, Tori Amos, Janelle Monae, Tom Waits, Basement Jaxx. The song was also re-recorded by Czech Republic artist Lenny (Universal) and hit the Top Ten charts in her country.
2010 saw the band win ‘Artist Of The Year’ at the Musicoz Awards.[4] She has also played at major festivals. These include Big Day Out, Falls Festival, Bluesfest, Pyramid Rock Festival, Festival of the Sun, Queenscliff Music Festival, Southbound, and major French festival – Blues Passion Cognac.
Supports include: Patti Smith, Earth, Wind & Fire (to a 40,000 strong crowd in Le Mans, France at the 24hr circuit car race in July 2013, Aerosmith, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Xavier Rudd (which led to the collaboration of the recording of Mavis Staples song, 'My Eyes Own' in 2009.
In 2008, Frasca sang for Australian rock band Midnight Oil in Sydney, in support of Amnesty International. In early 2009, the band was invited to perform as one of seven artists from seven continents of the planet for International Earth Day in Montreal, Canada.[5]
In July 2012, Dallas Frasca was invited by The Tea Party to perform as the opening act for their Brisbane show at the Tivoli theatre as part of The Tea Party's reformation Tour.[6]
Dallas Frasca helped launch Bob Irwin's brand new wildlife foundation with legendary guitarist Slash (Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver) at the Lone Pine Sanctuary in Brisbane. The event attracted international interest on August 22, 2012.[7]
Dallas Frasca signed to French record label, Verycords (home of Triggerfinger & Skunk Anansie) in February 2013 and regularly tours France and the U.K. in April 2015, the band appeared on French TV show Canal Plus, Album De La Semaine that aired to almost 1/4 million viewers in Europe.

Sanbom Field and the Soil Erosion Plots are located on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia. The original plan for Sanbom Field provided 39 tenth-acre plots in a rectangular, five acre field; the plots were to be separated by borders three feet wide. Sanbom Field was originally set in open countryside. Rapid expansion in Columbia since 1888 has left the field surrounded by buildings and traffic.
The Soil Erosion Plots are in a tiny parcel 52-1/2 x 118-1/2 feet, surrounded by a chicken-wire fence.
The Sanborn Field and Soil Erosion Plots are two separate agricultural experiments both situated on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia, Missouri. The Sanbom Field was established in 1888, the second oldest soil and crop experimental field in the United States.
The original 1888 plan of experiment at Sanbom Field was to test the value of farm manure in continuous cropping systems and in rotations of different lengths. In 1913 the treatments of a number of plots were changed to methods of cropping and soil treatments in common practice at that date. These included the introduction of commercial fertilizers, and bonemeal. In 1928, other plot plans were changed.
The study using the Soil Erosion Plots at Columbia was begun in 1917, with the first results published six years later. Six small, parallel plots running slightly downhill were used to investigate the causes of declining soil productivity. The experiment provided the foundation for the soil conservation movement in this country, and was the prototype for future experiments by the U.S.D.A. throughout the United States. (1)

Australia was approaching its bicentennial celebrations, and after Brisbane’s success hosting the 1982 Commonwealth Games, Brisbane City Council and the Queensland State Government were confident they could win the bid to hold the next World Exhibition.
Brisbane won the right to hold the event and Expo 88 was officially opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 30 April 1988. By the time it closed, it had changed the way the world saw Brisbane and helped shaped the city as we know it today.
Starting with an estimated budget of $645 million, the Queensland State Government developed a World Expo that would recoup and support its own costs and promote international investment in Queensland, both during and after the event. South Bank, badly damaged in the 1973–74 floods, was chosen and the site acquired for $150 million. Developers completed construction on time and within budget. The targets set for ticket sales were reached 11 weeks before Expo 88 had even opened. It was off to a smashing start.
Celebrating ‘Leisure in the age of technology’, there was an incredible range of pavilions, performances, parades, comedy and artwork on show. Guests could experience over 50 restaurants filled with flavours from around the globe. Hosted over six months, it drew more than 18 million people to the renewed South Bank parklands district. An average of 100,000 people a day entered the gates.
An influx of royalty, celebrities and international visitors came to Brisbane for the exhibition, but it was Queensland residents who attended the most often, purchasing 500,000 season tickets. Expo 88 provided something the city needed: an easy-to-access recreational facility with exciting things to do, see and experience. Brisbanites returned again and again to socialise and enjoy the festival atmosphere.
The monorail was one of the most popular attractions. Giving travellers a view of the entertainments from above, it operated along a 2.3-kilometre track during Expo 88, taking up to 44,000 visitors a day from one side of Expo to the other, along the Brisbane River. Built by Swedish manufacturer Von Roll, the monorail cost $12 million and comprised four MkII trains with nine carriages each. The idea of keeping the monorail operating after Expo and extending it into the Brisbane CBD was discussed. Ultimately, the existing monorail wasn’t a feasible long-term people-moving solution and it was disbursed. Three trains were sold back to Von Roll and were used in Germany’s Europa-Park. The remaining train and some tracks were incorporated into the Sea World theme park on the Gold Coast.
Some of the most significant installations, exhibitions and artworks from Expo 88 were relocated and continue to be enjoyed today. Ken Done AM, a prominent Australian artist and designer, was commissioned to produce the entry and exit statement art pieces for the Australia Pavilion. Using the word ‘Australia’, Done produced a sign nearly six metres tall that could not be missed by anyone who attended Expo 88. The letters have since been restored and are on display at the Caboolture Heritage Village. The Nepal Peace Pagoda was the only international pavilion that remained on-site, after a petition asking that it remain attracted about 70,000 signatures. The Japan Garden and Pond were gifted to the city of Brisbane and moved to the Botanic Gardens at Mt Coot-Tha.
The buzz of activity, the investment in South Bank’s infrastructure and the spotlight on Brisbane transformed the city. The physical legacy left by Expo 88 turned South Bank into a thriving social space and prominent cultural hotspot: 42 hectares was dedicated to the construction of the South Bank Parklands.

Water Gum rainforest above Resolute Beach, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, just north of Sydney.
Rainforest is rare in Sydney, as there's so much fire, the soils are shallow and poor. But in sheltered sites such as this, there are small remnants that persist.
The canopy height is about 8 metres. Other tree species include the Coachwood, Muttonwood (Myrsine howittiana), Blue Cherry, Lilly Pilly, Pittosporum, Wilkiea and the Cabbage Tree Palm. Nearby are Banksia integrifolia and Eucalyptus scias.
The rainforest floor is rocky and steep, with plenty of interesting understorey plants, including the ancient and fabulous Silurian relict, Psilotum nudum (Skeleton Fork Fern.) The most prominent climber is the Five leaf water vine, Cissus hypoglauca
The geology is the Narrabeen Group of Sedimentary Rocks. This east facing gully is relatively fire free. Soils are poor in nutrient, rainfall is 1300 mm per year. There is some debate whether this rainforest is classed as littoral or warm temperate. I'm going for warm temperate, as there is no evidence of salt winds affecting the vegetation. It is next to the beach, but perhaps, is more likely to be warm temperate. Across Pittwater, at the south western corner of Barrenjoey rock, the rainforest is definitely littoral. That rainforest is closer to the ocean, with a different group of species.

With his father, Jabez Banfield, having founded two regional newspapers in Victoria, it was not surprising that English-born Edmund Banfield chose to pursue a career in journalism. After working in Melbourne and Sydney he arrived in Townsville in 1882, where he became reporter and sub-editor on the Townsville Daily Bulletin. Two years later Banfield returned briefly to England for the treatment of an eye injury sustained during childhood. The eye was removed, but before he returned Banfield met Bertha Golding, who he married in Townsville in 1886. Ten years later Banfield’s heavy workload resulted in nervous exhaustion a condition greatly exacerbated after he was diagnosed as being tubercular. Believing his life was soon to end, Banfield and his wife successfully applied for a lease on Dunk Island, near Tully in North Queensland, where they hoped to spend the remainder of their lives as simply and serenely as possible. They achieved that objective, and contrary to all medical expectations Edmund Banfield lived until 1923. Unable to become totally self-sufficient, however, Banfield began writing newspaper and journal articles largely based on his natural history observations and personal philosophy. The reception they received encouraged Banfield to produce larger works on the same themes, Confessions of a Beachcomber (1908) being the most enduring. Perhaps unintentionally, Banfield emerged as a social and environmental philosopher in the mould of Thoreau, an individual who marched to his own beat while in close communion with nature. By so doing, he placed himself firmly in the vanguard of Queensland’s, and indeed Australia’s, 20th century conservation movement.

Bracken Ridge, a residential suburb between Bald Hills and Deagon/Sandgate, is 17 km north of central Brisbane. It was named after a local property which was apparently set among a profusion of bracken ferns.
The west and centre of the suburb are elevated, in effect a continuation of the landscape in Bald Hills. A service reservoir (1944) for Sandgate and Redcliffe is positioned east of Norris Road. Further away, east of Denham Street, there was considerable Ti Tree swamp.
Bracken Ridge was an outlying district of Bald Hills, and in 1877 the community at Bald Hills chose a site 3 km away for its cemetery. The site, nearly in the middle of Bracken Ridge, adjoins Ferguson Park which has the public hall and library.
Bracken Ridge is a suburb of the late 1960s and 1970s. A primary school opened in 1957, adjoining a few streets laid out in a standard grid. The Housing Commission built the suburb's first houses, beginning in 1966. In the early 1970s curvilinear streets were laid out extending to and beyond the cemetery reserve. A shopping centre was provided along Gawain Street. Two more primary schools were opened, Norris Road (1977) and St Josephs Catholic (1978). Secondary schooling arrived with the St John Fisher Catholic College (1981). State secondary schools were out of Bracken Ridge, at Sandgate (1959), and in Bracken Ridge's extreme north-east corner, more conveniently located for neighbouring Brighton. Opened in 1967 and named Nashville, it has been renamed Bracken Ridge.
The eastern and northern edges of Bracken Ridge have the Gateway Motorway (1986). The southern edge has the Bracken Ridge Plaza shopping centre (1994) with a supermarket and 39 shops, and the western edge has the Bald Hills hospital. More central, there is the North Point Institute of TAFE, next to Norris Road primary school.
After the first Housing Commission estate north of Gawain Road, the private sector estates offered increasingly costly houses. Wilmore and Randell's estate (1969) was an early move in that direction, and the trend culminated in the south-east of Bracken Ridge.

The Bellrays (also capitalized as The BellRays) are an American group that combines garage rock music with soul singing styles. The band consists of Lisa Kekaula (vocals), Bob Vennum (guitar), Justin Andres (bass) and Stefan Litrownik (drums). The group, founded in the early 1990s in Riverside, California, prides itself on its independence. They have been with several independent labels, including Upper Cut, Poptones, Alternative Tentacles, Bittersweet, Shock, Cheap Lullaby, Vicious Circle, Anodyne. On the group's MySpace page, they describe themselves as follows:
"High Octane Rock and Roll! Biography schmiography! Who cares about where they came from or what they did before or how many records they put out. Stats are not what music or this band is about. If you have an open mind and want something challenging in your life then this is where you want to stop and listen. Just take it in and make up your own mind. You want somebody to tell you what it is go to Kelly Clarkson's website instead. You tell us what we're about and then tell your friends whether you like it or not."
"Zero PM" was featured in the video game Driv3r and "Revolution Get Down" in a commercial for the Nissan Xterra. "Revolution Get Down" was also used as a fade-to-commercial song during the 2006 NCAA Tournament in the George Mason-Florida semifinal on CBS Sports.
Blues is the teacher. Punk is the preacher. It’s all about emotion and energy, experience and raw talent, spirit and intellect. Exciting things happen when these things collide. Bob and Lisa made the BellRays happen in 1991 but they weren’t really thinking about any of this then. They wanted to play music and they wanted it to feel good. They wanted people to WANT to get up, to NEED to get up and check out what was going on. Form an opinion. React. So they took everything they knew about; the Beatles, Stevie Wonder, the Who, the Ramones, Billie Holiday, Lou Rawls, Hank Williams, the DB’s, Jimmy Reed, Led Zeppelin, to name a very few and pressed it into service. It was never about coming up with a ‘sound’, or fitting in with a scene. It was about the energy that made all that music so irresistible. It was the history BEFORE Led Zeppelin that led them to that point. The Beatles thought they were playing R&B. It just came out like ‘Rubber Soul’. The Ramones were trying to be Del Shannon or Neil Sedaka and out came ‘Rocket to Russia’. With the BellRays there was no conscious effort to ‘combine’ rock and soul because they didn’t see them as divided in the first place. Blues was teaching. Punk was preaching. The BellRays were always listening.
The BellRays began in, and still hail from, Riverside, Ca., just east of Los Angeles. We started in 1991 and have been going ever since.

GOVERNOR TOMBLIN PRESENTS $9.3 MILLION IN GRANTS
TO LOCAL GROUPS, COMMUNITY JUSTICE PROGRAMS
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (September 9, 2016) – Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today presented more than $9.3 million in grant funding to community support groups and justice programs across the state. This funding will be used to develop new programming and enhance existing initiatives to support West Virginia’s communities and state justice system.
“With this needed funding, community programs from all corners of our state will be better equipped to serve children and families and further strengthen West Virginia’s justice system.” Gov. Tomblin said. “We are expanding direct services to victims of crime, putting programs in place to help at-risk youth get back on track and preparing parents with the life skills they need to foster a healthy, nurturing environment to raise their families.”
The total grant funding was allocated as follows:
$7,023,255 in Victims of Crime Act/Victim Assistance Grants - 75 grantees;
$529, 254 in Justice Reinvestment Treatment Supervision Grants - 4 grantees;
$1,203,175 in Justice Assistance Grants - 34 grantees;
$543,222 in Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Grants - 18 grantees.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (September 9, 2016) – Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today presented more than $9.3 million in grant funding to community support groups and justice programs across the state. This funding will be used to develop new programming and enhance existing initiatives to support West Virginia’s communities and state justice system.
“With this needed funding, community programs from all corners of our state will be better equipped to serve children and families and further strengthen West Virginia’s justice system.” Gov. Tomblin said. “We are expanding direct services to victims of crime, putting programs in place to help at-risk youth get back on track and preparing parents with the life skills they need to foster a healthy, nurturing environment to raise their families.”
The total grant funding was allocated as follows:

Thank you, Secretary Gates, and thank you for your extraordinary service to our nation. I think that Bob Gates will go down as one of our finest Secretaries of Defense in our history, and it’s been an honor to serve with him. (Applause.)
I also want to say a word about Admiral Mullen. On a day when we are announcing his successor as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and as he looks forward to a well-deserved retirement later this year, Admiral Mullen, on behalf of all Americans, we want to say thank you for your four decades of service to this great country. (Applause.) We want to thank Deborah Mullen as well for her extraordinary service. To Major General Karl Horst, the commanding general of our Military District of Washington; Mrs. Nancy Horst; Mr. Patrick Hallinan, the superintendent of Arlington National Cemetery, as well as his lovely wife Doreen. And to Chaplain Steve Berry, thank you for your extraordinary service. (Applause.)
It is a great privilege to return here to our national sanctuary, this most hallowed ground, to commemorate Memorial Day with all of you. With Americans who’ve come to pay their respects. With members of our military and their families. With veterans whose service we will never forget and always honor. And with Gold Star families whose loved ones rest all around us in eternal peace.
To those of you who mourn the loss of a loved one today, my heart breaks goes out to you. I love my daughters more than anything in the world, and I cannot imagine losing them. I can’t imagine losing a sister or brother or parent at war. The grief so many of you carry in your hearts is a grief I cannot fully know.
This day is about you, and the fallen heroes that you loved. And it’s a day that has meaning for all Americans, including me. It’s one of my highest honors, it is my most solemn responsibility as President, to serve as Commander-in-Chief of one of the finest fighting forces the world has ever known. (Applause.) And it’s a responsibility that carries a special weight on this day; that carries a special weight each time I meet with our Gold Star families and I see the pride in their eyes, but also the tears of pain that will never fully go away; each time I sit down at my desk and sign a condolence letter to the family of the fallen.
Sometimes a family will write me back and tell me about their daughter or son that they’ve lost, or a friend will write me a letter about what their battle buddy meant to them. I received one such letter from an Army veteran named Paul Tarbox after I visited Arlington a couple of years ago. Paul saw a photograph of me walking through Section 60, where the heroes who fell in Iraq and Afghanistan lay, by a headstone marking the final resting place of Staff Sergeant Joe Phaneuf.
Joe, he told me, was a friend of his, one of the best men he’d ever known, the kind of guy who could have the entire barracks in laughter, who was always there to lend a hand, from being a volunteer coach to helping build a playground. It was a moving letter, and Paul closed it with a few words about the hallowed cemetery where we are gathered here today.
He wrote, “The venerable warriors that slumber there knew full well the risks that are associated with military service, and felt pride in defending our democracy. The true lesson of Arlington,” he continued, “is that each headstone is that of a patriot. Each headstone shares a story. Thank you for letting me share with you [the story] about my friend Joe.”
Staff Sergeant Joe Phaneuf was a patriot, like all the venerable warriors who lay here, and across this country, and around the globe. Each of them adds honor to what it means to be a soldier, sailor, airman, Marine, and Coast Guardsman. Each is a link in an unbroken chain that stretches back to the earliest days of our Republic -- and on this day, we memorialize them all.
We memorialize our first patriots -- blacksmiths and farmers, slaves and freedmen -- who never knew the independence they won with their lives. We memorialize the armies of men, and women disguised as men, black and white, who fell in apple orchards and cornfields in a war that saved our union. We memorialize those who gave their lives on the battlefields of our times -- from Normandy to Manila, Inchon to Khe Sanh, Baghdad to Helmand, and in jungles, deserts, and city streets around the world.
What bonds this chain together across the generations, this chain of honor and sacrifice, is not only a common cause -- our country’s cause -- but also a spirit captured in a Book of Isaiah, a familiar verse, mailed to me by the Gold Star parents of 2nd Lieutenant Mike McGahan. “When I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here I am. Send me!”
That’s what we memorialize today. That spirit that says, send me, no matter the mission. Send me, no matter the risk. Send me, no matter how great the sacrifice I am called to make. The patriots we memorialize today sacrificed not only all they had but all they would ever know. They gave of themselves until they had nothing more to give. It’s natural, when we lose someone we care about, to ask why it had to be them. Why my son, why my sister, why my friend, why not me?
These are questions that cannot be answered by us. But on this day we remember that it is on our behalf that they gave our lives -- they gave their lives. We remember that it is their courage, their unselfishness, their devotion to duty that has sustained this country through all its trials and will sustain us through all the trials to come. We remember that the blessings we enjoy as Americans came at a dear cost; that our very presence here today, as free people in a free society, bears testimony to their enduring legacy.
Our nation owes a debt to its fallen heroes that we can never fully repay. But we can honor their sacrifice, and we must. We must honor it in our own lives by holding their memories close to our hearts, and heeding the example they set. And we must honor it as a nation by keeping our sacred trust with all who wear America’s uniform, and the families who love them; by never giving up the search for those who’ve gone missing under our country’s flag or are held as prisoners of war; by serving our patriots as well as they serve us -- from the moment they enter the military, to the moment they leave it, to the moment they are laid to rest.
That is how we can honor the sacrifice of those we’ve lost. That is our obligation to America’s guardians -- guardians like Travis Manion. The son of a Marine, Travis aspired to follow in his father’s footsteps and was accepted by the USS [sic] Naval Academy. His roommate at the Academy was Brendan Looney, a star athlete and born leader from a military family, just like Travis. The two quickly became best friends -- like brothers, Brendan said.
After graduation, they deployed -- Travis to Iraq, and Brendan to Korea. On April 29, 2007, while fighting to rescue his fellow Marines from danger, Travis was killed by a sniper. Brendan did what he had to do -- he kept going. He poured himself into his SEAL training, and dedicated it to the friend that he missed. He married the woman he loved. And, his tour in Korea behind him, he deployed to Afghanistan. On September 21st of last year, Brendan gave his own life, along with eight others, in a helicopter crash.
Heartbroken, yet filled with pride, the Manions and the Looneys knew only one way to honor their sons’ friendship -- they moved Travis from his cemetery in Pennsylvania and buried them side by side here at Arlington. “Warriors for freedom,” reads the epitaph written by Travis’s father, “brothers forever.”
The friendship between 1st Lieutenant Travis Manion and Lieutenant Brendan Looney reflects the meaning of Memorial Day. Brotherhood. Sacrifice. Love of country. And it is my fervent prayer that we may honor the memory of the fallen by living out those ideals every day of our lives, in the military and beyond. May God bless the souls of the venerable warriors we’ve lost, and the country for which they died. (Applause.)

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (September 9, 2016) – Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today presented more than $9.3 million in grant funding to community support groups and justice programs across the state. This funding will be used to develop new programming and enhance existing initiatives to support West Virginia’s communities and state justice system.
“With this needed funding, community programs from all corners of our state will be better equipped to serve children and families and further strengthen West Virginia’s justice system.” Gov. Tomblin said. “We are expanding direct services to victims of crime, putting programs in place to help at-risk youth get back on track and preparing parents with the life skills they need to foster a healthy, nurturing environment to raise their families.”
The total grant funding was allocated as follows:
$7,023,255 in Victims of Crime Act/Victim Assistance Grants - 75 grantees;
$529, 254 in Justice Reinvestment Treatment Supervision Grants - 4 grantees;
