Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
On a much sunny day we are at Gould Station, Quebec shooting this weatbound at an angle that shows just how big CPR's "Bigs" really were. The summit is still in front of them in a couple miles. From there westbounds shoot down the hills into Bury and Cookshire.
(First of two) This male Gould's Jewelfront hummingbird, Heliodoxa aurescens, was perched just off the deck at the lodge. In watching hummingbirds, I notice that when they are perched for more than a few seconds they often tilt the head, which I presume is to scan for predators perched or flying above.
This is an uncommon hummingbird with a fairly large range going from Venezuela to Bolivia.

March 9, 2025. WildSumaco Lodge, eastern Ecuador.
Glenn Gould (1932-1982) is a bona fide Canadian icon who became one of the most famous and celebrated classical pianists of the 20th century. His playing was distinguished by remarkable technical proficiency and capacity to articulate, in particular, the works of Johann Sebastian Bach.

Is it spring time already? It was pretty dark and a bit rainy this morning, but these turkeys didn't seem to mind at all! There were about a dozen males displaying on the road, while a group of uninterested females foraged along the side of the road. Once the females had left, the males stopped doing their displays, but it was an awesome 15 minutes!

This sunrise was an amazing experience. It was all clear early in the morning, with a dense carpet of fog in the valleys. Just when the sun decided to pop its head above the horizon, the fog started to lift. Five minutes later I was standing in a thick layer of fog and could only see 50m ahead of me.
Mt Gould can be seen in the background poking its peak through the clouds.
Periodic blooms of these tiny clams in the beach sands off Southern California, particularly plentiful on San Diego beaches. This is one species. Scores of other species in the genus Donax are scattered throughout the world.
