Face to face with history - the emotion captured in stone centuries ago is still palpable today. Faces carved centuries ago, still whispering stories through every crack and missing piece. Time can soften the details, but not the expression.

The famous Gothic sculptures by Giovanni Pisano (c. 1250–1315) originally adorned the façade of the Siena Cathedral (Duomo di Siena) and are now preserved at the Bernisches Historisches in Bern to protect them from the elements. They represent prophets and philosophers and are known for their dramatic, emotional expressions which were revolutionary for their time.
