While this tour of Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, and Czech Republic looks like a dream on Instagram, the reality is that the European migrant crisis is still underway and border security is very much heightened. I am traveling with a group of tourists from the U.S., Canada, Poland, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and United Arab Emirates, and early this afternoon we crossed the border of Austria into the Czech Republic. This is the last border crossing of our trip, and the first one in which passports have been checked extensively by border police. at Eisenberg's Sandwich Shop - a diner in NYC on 5th Avenue. It is the sweetest best diner in a city full of diners.
Gothering Station was opened by the Great Western Railway in 1906. The station opened as Gotherington on 1 June 1906; it was renamed Gotherington Halt on 1 December 1940, and was closed on 13 June 1955. It was the first station to close on this route (most of the other stations closed in 1960). The line itself remained open until 1976. The track was later lifted by 1979.
The line was relaid by the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, during the mid-1990s reaching Gotherington in 1997. Trains recommenced the same year, and were extended to Cheltenham Racecourse in April 2003.
The station buildings are privately owned, so trains use the opposite platform. During major events the private garden is opened to passengers and the station house becomes a tea room. A short length of track in the garden allows rides on a Wickham or pump trolley.

On our last day in Praha, we were walking to Petrin Tower when we began to see crowds of people line up along the sides of Národní, the road we were on. We found out there was going to be a parade of old streetcars, so we decided to stop and watch. The streetcars were very cool, but what I actually loved about this parade was something else entirely. Some people on the streetcars were dressed in period costumes and uniforms and others just wore modern street clothes, but each car was full of people waving to the spectators, and we were all waving back. It was so pure and simple and sweet to witness in a time when people don't always treat each other as kindly as I imagine they did in the bygone eras when these streetcars ran. Seegrotte Hinterbrühl is a former gypsum mine, and it is Europe's largest underground lake. Under Southern Skies! This was probably the only night we ventured out to clear views of the stars. My night photography plans were foiled as the weather took over immediately after and all we got were gloomy days and rainy nights for most of our trip after this. Not to mention that we would be really tired after a days walking and wanted to stay indoors. But it makes me glad we somehow mustered the energy to drive below the mountain that night, before the clouds took over and we never saw a glimpse of Mt Roland again. For now, this had to do. Until we meet again. With @soniavinayak
