There is so much poverty in India, that sometimes I feel you haven't been to any place here until you see below poverty line people wasted on roads, tired of the reality that life has to offer.

Life is not so beautiful for them.

And then we humor ourselves by even entertaining ideas like all men are equal.

Goswamis from Barsana come to the Nandgram Temple (dedicated to Krishna Balram) in Nandgaon. Sitting in a samaj singing bhajans dedicated to Radha and Krishna while men of Nandgaon dunk them with colors extracted from flowers, powdered colors (gulaal), water, flowers etc.

I found this man very interesting, clearly he is struggling for survival and leading a "finding it hard to make ends meet" life.

He had a peculiar expression on his face all the time, and his tongue kept coming out through the gap in his teeth every 2 seconds.

Seeing him reminded me how some people's existence can be so miserable. And how human potential for creativity and art is being wasted and people being forced to struggle to survive because of the good for nothing politics.

Who knows what talent this guy would have had to offer to the world.

He could be a great painter or singer. who knows!

The sad part is the world will never find out either.

I very strongly feel that an incomplete picture is more intriguing/ interesting than a complete one.

Just one attempt at trying to bring that out.

this pic is dedicated to one of my closest friend Raja "$@!NT" Goswami.

Sri Radha-Raman manifestation - Janmashtami in Vrindavan/India on Flickriver

The Deity of Sri Radha-Raman was manifested from one of Gopala Bhatta Gosvami’s shalagram-shilas (Damodara), on the full moon day (Purnima), 15th day of the month of Vaishaka (April-May) in 1542.

see seva here:

www.shriradharaman.com/index.php?page=28

Each year the manifestation is being celebrated. The deity Radha-Raman is bathed in panchamrita with over 1000 litres of milk and other auspicious items as honey, tea and good water.

In the picture you see Swami Padmanab Goswami and his son Chandan bathing the Deity.

Marriage is suppose to be an equal partnership, in which each one has an equal place. But in this male dominated society, that is hard to find.

It's changing of course, things are more practical now than they were say a 100 years ago.

But I just feel this picture brings out the blind faith that a woman is expected to show towards her husband, following and obeying him always.

I am not judging this particular couple. I hope they are as happy as couples can be. I am only using it as imagery to bring out this underlying thought.

Forceful arranged marriages are more common place in India than many of the western cultures. So this might not be so relevant to some of you.

Something as serious a commitment as marriage should never be forced.

Remember marriage is as pagan a ritual as human sacrifice.
