I passed a Google Street View car on the highway on the way in to work this morning!!
I hope they were capturing, because there's a good chance that I'll be in a photo with the Saturn V in the background. Huntsville already has Google Street View, so I'm not sure they were shooting today (especially during go-to-work time??).
The woman driving was a college-age-looking blonde and had a fancy laptop set up in the front seat, like a cop. What a great summer job that must be, driving around the country in a company car that takes pictures of everything it sees!

I was forced to sign up for a Google Account. However, while going through the typical account creation screen, I was happy to see one of the options they offer for the lost password challege question - "What is your library card number?" Who says Google doesn't need libraries?
Although, this question might not work for its intended purpose - most people who come into the library don't even know their library card number, so I don't know if it would help them prove who they are in the case of them forgetting their password.
Google was giving out fortune cookies containing search tips at ALA. This cookie tasted like fruit punch and explained how to use the "link:" operator.
In my previous career I was lucky enough to be able to photograph some interesting people. This guy was one of those interesting people and it was a very interesting day to be the photographer in the background.
Image captured using a Sony NEX-5 with the SLR Magic Noktor 50mm f0.95 Hyperprime lens, 1/1000th of a sec @fIHaveNoIdea, ISO200.
Processed from a Sony RAW file using Adobe Lightroom 6.12, Google’s Nik Collection Dfine 2.0, Viveza 2 and converted to black and white using Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.0.
This is way out of line with industry-wide numbers, which seem to put Google's share at around 60 percent.

Google Korea(구글 코리아)의 카페테리아. 밥은 없었지만 엄청난 양의 과자와 과일, 라면, 음료수들이 즐비한 천국이였음. 여기에 취직하고 싶은 마음이 계속 들었다. posted by StudioEgo
Found old business cards sent by Google to me as a promotion for Google profiles now a part of Google+. Day 10/365
In summary, this is a very disappointing offering.
It seems to be the bastard child of three different services -- Twitter, Gmail, and FriendFeed.
Mistake #1:
From email it gets the idea that there are "unread" buzzes -- a terrible idea for the many on Twitter who follow hundreds of people and dip in and out without reading them all. This ever-growing number will serve merely to irritate infovores.
Mistake #2:
From FriendFeed it gets the idea of integrating with multiple services. You can pull in your blog, Twitter, Picasa, YouTube, and a few more (but not Facebook). This turns it from "share what you're thinking" (as the UI prompts) to "share what you're doing" which is much less interesting, and dilutes the value of the stream significantly.
Mistake #3:
Who the fuck let these visuals out the door? The percentage of the screen that is actual, useful content is tiny. Each line of stream is surrounded by at least:
- profile picture
- name
- source
- public/private
- time
- comment button
- *another* comment button
- "like" button
- email link
Plus online status, for other Buzz users.
Compare to Twitter, which displays:
- profile picture
- name
And all other UI is contextual on mouseover.
Instead of simplifying the UI, they've dealt with the excess of cruft by adding whitespace, which means that you can only fit 4 "buzzes" on the screen at a time.
Conclusion: Google, you're Doing It Wrong.

Giving information for the Mall/SW 4th Ave MAX Station for a bus stop icon at 4th and Taylor (not even along the route)
Note that the street map layer shows the bus stop icons in the old, incorrect locations, possibly as a result of not getting updated that often. When the transit layer is selected, it shows its own stop icons, which are generally more accurate. Also, route lines in Google Earth (the downloadable program) are well out-of-date, even compared to the stop icons.
