The Google Nexus One has quite a fragile screen. This phone has been dropped once, from less than 5 feet. Chuffed.

Great to have an option to not set flowery macro shots as default. Anyway, nice idea but I barely sign in on Google…

I've found a way to use Google Docs with the N800 that has the potential to greatly increase my usage of the Internet Tablet and to turn it into a very powerful mobile document platform! If that sounds interesting to you, read on.
First of all, Google Docs does not work with the native N800 Opera browser. If you attempt to open a Google Docs web page with the Opera browser you will receive a "Sorry, but this browser doesn't support web word-processing" error message from Google. Google has effectively blocked the N800 Opera browser from using Google Docs at all.
There is a way around this problem, though - install the Mozilla Minimo browser on your N800. Now the N800 port of this browser is definitely an alpha-level piece of software, but it does basically work on the N800 and it is being refined over time. You can find directions on installing it on your N800 at tonikitoo.blogspot.com/2007/03/minimo-maemo-port-0169-1-a...
After installing this browser you'll now be able to navigate to docs.google.com
Next you'll find that you can create a new document in Google Docs, but you can't edit it via the standard Google Docs "Edit" tab. You can, however, edit the document using the "Edit HTML" tab. Now admittedly this is pretty kludgey, but it does make it possible to at least do simple edits using Google Docs from your N800. But...much more important is the fact that Google Docs works superbly as an N800 document management and collaboration tool.
The wonderful little N800 built-in Notes application is really a mini-word processor. It handles basic font changes and formatting quite well and I regularly use it to create such documents as meeting minutes, using a pre-formatted template I keep on my N800. The Notes application saves its documents in HTML format. So does Google Docs. So, it's very easy to upload an N800 Notes document into Google Docs and have it display perfectly.
I think you're probably catching my drift now - you can use Google Docs as a document collaboration server for N800 Notes documents you want to share with others. After uploading them to Google Docs, you can very easily save them as Microsoft Word documents, RTF files, PDF files, etc., making them even easier and more convenient for emailing to other PC users. You can also use the Google Docs "Share now" function to quickly share a document you've created on your N800. In addition, you can download Google Docs to your N800 in HTML format and use them as N800 Notes documents.
You can also upload simple Microsoft Word documents to Google Docs and download them to the N800 and you'll immediately be able to work with them using the native Notes program. This is a very powerful capability to add to an N800 and really turns it into a mini-document powerhouse!
By the way this posting was originally created on my N800, spell-checked and extensively edited on Google Docs, and finally copied into Flickr.
