Built in 1917 in Italian Renaissance style for Richard Teller Crane, the Chicago plumbing magnate. It was the largest and most lavish of the cottages for the Jekyll Island Club featuring 22 bedrooms and 17 bathrooms. It was said that the other club members complained so much he removed the marble flooring and replaced them with wood floors to tone it down.

The St Simons Island Light is a popular tourist destination on the Golden Isles of Georgia. Visitors can climb the 129 steps to the top of the light, and peer out from the platform - if you look closely here, you'll see a person just below the light.
I love the color scheme of this cottage on Jekyll Island, GA. It is called the Moss Cottage. There is also a beautiful collection of moss covered trees framing this home. I think it is well named!

This lighhouse was constucted after the original was destroyed by Confederate troops in 1861 to prevent use by Union forces. Built in 1868, this lighthouse continues as a functioning mariner's aide, today.
I had a great day shooting photos around the Golden Isles. As Blue Hour grew deeper, and people began to park in the lot, it was time for me to wrap up my day.
Preparing to photograph sunset at St Simons Light, I was entreated to amazingly dramatic skies over the Sound.
A windy, stormy evening in St Simons Sound, as the tide comes in to erase the beach. The waterway lies between St Simons Island and Jekyll Island, Georgia.
Leaving Jekyll Island for the day we passed over a bridge and I asked my husband to stop so I could capture these low clouds. There was a pull off point and another bridge for foot traffic below the auto bridge. Worked out great for a shot of Georgia's beautiful low country!
