……They lasted only for a brief moment but it was a sight to behold for sure. What you can't hear are the gentle tumbling of pebbles as the tide ebbs and flows - quite magical. Alan:-)…….

Sunlight breaking through the clouds on a cold winter morning over the A57 viaduct crossing Ladybower Reservoir. Bamford Edge in the background. Derbyshire Peak District.

A view looking west about 35 minutes before sunset from the churchyard of St James in the tiny Wiltshire village of Stert (population 176), looking roughly in the direction of Potterne. This is the highest point for a mile or two in any direction and my climb was rewarded with this beautiful burst of God's fingers.

"God's Fingers" and a power line and pylon just on the English side of the Severn Bridge.

The Grouse Inn, Longshaw, Derbyshire Peak District.

As I took photos from the summit of Divis (478m above sea level) the highest of the Belfast Hills, towards Lough Neagh, suddenly a shaft of sunlight broke through and illuminated the fields on top of Budore Hill, about 4 km away. Clearly visible on Lough Neagh is Ram's Island, and in the distance, the countryside around Brockagh and Ardboe in County Tyrone, gradually rising into the Sperrins and South Tyrone uplands.

I was put in mind of verses from the priest and poet RS Thomas:

"I have seen the sun break through

to illuminate a small field

for a while, and gone my way

and forgotten it. But that was the pearl

of great price, the one field that had

treasure in it. I realize now

that I must give all that I have

to possess it. Life is not hurrying

on to a receding future, nor hankering after

an imagined past. It is the turning

aside like Moses to the miracle

of the lit bush, to a brightness

that seemed as transitory as your youth

once, but is the eternity that awaits you."

Never Seen Anything Like It ...

I have photographed all sorts of strange weather in my time including fogbows, sun pillars, auroras, noctilucent clouds but I have never seen a phenonemum like the one I witnessed tonight at sunset over Crediton.

It started like the first image which looks fairly normal for sunset beams or even crepuscular rays EXCEPT we are looking east at sunset !

It then developed into an amazing sight ( Second Image). The rainbow faded and eventually the rays as the sun set behind me in the west!

It is a rare combination of anti-crepuscular rays lined up with a rainbow ! Check out www.atoptics.co.uk/atoptics/anti1.htm?fbclid=IwAR2qvtn9rU...

for more info.

A first image from my stay in Galveston of last year. Here is the sea side with a dramatic sky and the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier in the back.

El Dedo de Dios (God's finger) was a sea stack in the Atlantic Ocean near Agaete in the northern part of Gran Canaria. During tropical storm Delta in November 2005, "God's finger", the thin top of the rocky monument, broke off and fell into the sea.

So this has become unfortunately a historical picture.

Peak Rock is a high cliff which stands at the entrance to Polperro harbour in Cornwall, England. "The Pepperpot' lighthouse can be seen on the far headland.

Another beautiful picture of God's Glorious Fingers in Creation. How blessed Rosey and I are to share this beautiful place, to be able to walk around and witness what God has created for us.

These next 4 pictures are from my slide collection and so taken many years ago. This is in Australia sometime and I cannot remember where!!!! It is one of my favourite older pics!!!

When sun rays like these appear through the clouds, it is always a pleasant surprise, an inspiring moment, a call for attention.

The ignorance and arrogance of humans is such that we think we are bigger than everything and everyone, especially than our fellow human beings!

But, if we takes a step back and observes the world around us, it doesn't take long for us to realise as to how insignificantly small we are in the grand scheme of things!

One such place which inspired a thought like that was in Dubrovnik Old Town and this surreal view I was fortunate enough to experience.

This image is a stitched panorama consisting of about 30 - 40 degree field of view. I took about 7 or 8 exposures in portrait orientation to get the detail right, however, still couldn't keep the distortion out!

This was captured using a £26 Plastic Nikkor 28-80mm G Film era autofocus lens.

A scene that greeted us as we left the coffee shop. Too good an opportunity to miss, so a hastily grabbed stitched pano (handheld) using the 50-140mm f/2.8.

I didn't know they were referred to as "Jacob's Ladder" until i took a look at wikipedia this morning

EXPLORED #226 - THANK YOU ALL AND OUR AMAZING GOD . . .

I love the late afternoon sun or the early morning sun but because I am not usually out of bed early, then this is my favourite time as by the time I crawl out in the morning the sun has beaten me up and the lovely golden light has been replaced by a more hard white kind of light rather than this golden light.

And so, as the day came to a close, I was presented with this beautiful scene. God, in all His glory and those God's Fingers are magnificent in their beauty. I love the reflections on the water too.

This bay was sown from the air today. I watched two planes working today. Both planes today are Ayres Turbo Thrush and designed for this sort of work. They can also be used to spray or to water dump too!!!

And as the golden sun sinks down below the horizon, it is time for me to slip quietly off to bed to rest my weary head and dream of tomorrow and what is has to bring.

Thank you God for the beauty you have brought to me, for the unexpected gifts that have arrived in this form, and for a great camera to catch them . . . I am extremely blessed as is Rosey too.

God bless you all and may your dreams come true God Willing . . .

Rosey and I were walking this morning. The sun was in front of us, and this smoke was between us and the sun, making a perfect array of God's Fingers. Also appearing out of the mist was this man riding his bicycle. Enjoy.

Panorama crop of a view from the office looking South to the Isle of Wight. The little church steeple visible is in Ryde.

A very cloudy day revealed a little glimmer of light towards the end of the day.

Went looking for an old picture in the archives, didnt find it, but you know how it is, you always find something... this ones been maturing for nearly a year now

While walking this morning, we were presented with this magnificent vista of God's Fingers. Rosey just happened to be pointing when I snapped this picture of her.
