Due to Popular Demand I'm bringing the series back that we did back in February of this year.

Join award winning wedding photographer Jason Lanier for a 90-minute webinar that is Part #1 of a 6 part series of how to shoot a wedding the right way! The webinar will be conducted online via GoToMeeting and is limited to 25 attendees. This webinar will consist of a 75-minute presentation with a 15-minute question and answer session at the end.

Presentation will begin at 5:30pm (Pacific Time) 8:30pm (Eastern Time). Even if you can't attend live, all attendees who register will receive a copy of the 2-hour presentation so there's every reason to register now!

All those who pay and register will receive an email the day before the webinar which will provide them with all the log-in information for the webinar.

All attendees will receive a video copy of the presentation which will consist of a presentation that includes pictures, videos, and the keys to success from Jason's weddings from around the world. The webinar will consist of a live presentation by Jason as he teaches you all the things you need to know about preparing and executing the wedding shoot from the getting ready shots from the wedding day. Presentation will include:

Preparing the client ahead of time- how to make sure you get them ready for you so you don't waste any time on the wedding day. This is one of the biggest keys for success and one of the things that most photographers don't do very well.

Getting Ready Shots for the Bride- some of the most beautiful shots of a wedding are taken inside the bridal room (hotel, venue, home, etc.) before the bride puts the dress on, while she's putting it on, and the bridals after she's put it on. There's also so much more to think about including individual shots of the wedding gown, the shoes, garter, bouquet, rings, etc. During this time we will also talk about shooting the bride with the bridesmaids, flower girl, and her family.

Getting Ready Shots for the Groom- this is one of the rare times when a groom will open up for having his pictures taken. It can also be one of the funnest times because the groomsmen will open up and give you some amazing picture opportunities. Jason will share his secrets for getting shots of the rings, gifts, drinking, having fun, and capturing the essence of what it means to make this shoot a great success.

Gear- Jason will review the gear needed for successful shots in a getting ready environment including lights, lenses, and other tricks of the trade that help him to get the shots that his clients love!

"I work for COL Germany and I have a meeting with the guys in the US every evening at 6pm German time. This is usually the time my girl fired starts cooking for dinner and she sometimes gets angry because I cannot assist her. So I loaded GoToMeeting for android on my Galaxy Tab and attend the meeting with it. With the tablet in the one hand and the wooden spoon in the other hand I can attend the meeting and do some simple cooking jobs the same time. So we can start with our dinner right after the meeting is over."

Trying to connect with remote teammates, deal with email hassles, or manage document versions can make for long days and missed deadlines. Take a look at this infographic to learn how the right collaboration tools can generate a boost in productivity equal to gaining an extra day every week.

SLO_GenLA Table

The SLO_GenLA communal table is a focal point in the lobby of Gensler’s Los Angeles office, and the result of an innovative partnership between Gensler and the Department of Architecture at the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

In 2011, professors Jim Doerfler and Mark Cabrinha, co-directors of Cal Poly’s Digital Fabrication Lab (“d[Fab]Lab”) reached out to Gensler L.A. design director Shawn Gehle to create a fully-virtualized studio focused on digital fabrication and online collaboration tools. In response, Gehle authored a unique, 10-week seminar that would allow students access to the firm’s design talent and explore form-finding and digital fabrication techniques through the design of a custom furniture piece. The design brief simply outlined a piece that could accommodate standing and sitting space for guests and storage for the firm’s design publications. The piece would need to be site-specific and prominently featured in Gensler’s new downtown Los Angeles office.

Beyond an initial in-person meeting, Cal Poly students and d[Fab]Lab faculty met with Gensler advisors via the online collaboration tool GoToMeeting to conduct weekly seminar discussions and review the team’s progress. In addition to bridging the 200-mile gap between designers in Los Angeles and students and faculty in San Luis Obispo, this method allowed professional consultants and materials specialists to participate easily, while exposing students to the kind of virtual collaboration that is prevalent in professional practice today. Maintaining a focus on a digital workflow, the team’s design and documentation process also was conducted virtually, substituting a 3-D model as the deliverable for fabrication in lieu of a traditional set of 2-D drawings.

Over the course of the seminar, the original concepts of three students were developed and refined using the 3-D modeling software Rhino and T-Splines, and virtually reviewed and critiqued weekly with Gensler’s design staff. Structural engineers at Buro Happold and solid surfacing material provider LG Hausys joined multiple discussions to examine schemes and offer insight on constructability, cost and structural integrity. A final, in-person meeting in Los Angeles focused on the review of physical prototypes and material samples, and enabled the team to address the challenges of forming fiberglass vs. solid surfacing as the table’s predominant surface material.

Inspired by the design and opportunity, LG Hausys become a partner in the project, providing technical expertise and support for their HI-MACS solid surfacing product, which proved to be the ideal material for achieving the table’s draped surface. LG Hausys also introduced the team to the capabilities of R.D. Wing Co. Inc., the Seattle-based fabrication specialists who ultimately constructed and delivered the table’s design.

The SLO_Gen table was recently installed in the main entry of Gensler Los Angeles, where its dramatic profile continues to lure pedestrians in from the street and prompt conversation on its origin.

Back at SFO, at the same gate I had prevously waited for 8 hours, I noticed this ad for gotomeeting.com

"Next time, try online meetings."

Not exactly a welcome sentiment after a hellish trip like that.

Mr. Talley experiences the Telepresence Mandarin Chinese class which is being taken by 16 students from Ramstein HS, MS, Kaiserslautern HS and MS taught by a teacher in Naples, Italy!

"I’m a family guy, and I love my kids. When you’re at home with a few kids, you always have to be ‘on’ and prepared for the parental tasks whenever they call. When I have to attend meetings from home, either early in the morning or late at night, my parental responsibilities can’t always be placed on hold, so I load up GoToMeeting on my iPhone or iPad so that I can be ready and mobile whenever Dad is needed. Or in this case, when nature calls."

GoTo Meeting Improves Participation and Communication - To improve participation at our Master Planning listening sessions online meetings were implemented. We utilized GoToMeeting and once they were executed attendance spiked! As a result of attendance to these meetings being at capacity, set by GoToMeeting, we are looking at our options for increasing the registration amounts for future meetings. We are also considering the option of posting the recorded presentation on our website so members can view it at even further convenience.

Two GoToMeeting dates were promoted in weekly E-Bulletins with online registration. Twenty-four hours before each meeting instructions to access GoToMeeting were e-mailed to members who registered. Members appreciated the flexibility of being able to attend these meetings from home or work. But most importantly, members are now more informed about the Master Planning process.

Started another new work flow. With me using GoToMeeting for work and wanting to streamline my workflow on a daily basis, I decided to take lead from one Mr. Curtis as I was already heading down this road...I have a slim dock now. Spotlight can help me open any application I want. I find a quick keystroke and 4-6 letters then enter is just as fast as moving my mouse to the dock and clicking an icon. This way my dock is minimal with only the key essentials and with screen sharing for clients, I don't have a ton of icons to distract them during calls.
