The Thea Foss waterway was integral in the developing town of Tacoma from the mid to late 1800's. At the time it was lined with warehouses, lumber mills, and furniture manufacturers as well as docks to unload the tall ships and then early steamers that brought in imports from far away ports, like China....... :-)
Today, thanks to the financial aide of the Federal Government, the waterway has been extensively cleaned up and rejuvenated with businesses, condos, and restaurants.

I always liked dark beer. I went to Mexico quite often starting when I graduated from high school. In Mexico I would order Negra Modelo and I was told it wasn't very good at any place that I ordered it.
On one trip, I went with a college friend of mine from Loyola, a Mexican national. We were in a bar for a brew and I ordered Superiore, and I told my friend that I really liked dark beer. He said, "You should order Negra Modelo." I told him of my experiences when I tried to order it.
He laughed and said, "That's because you are a Norteamericano and everybody KNOWS they don't like dark beers." We both laughed and that night I had my first Negra Modelo.
I found a place in Minneapolis at the Global Market that has it on tap . . . Salsa y Salsa. That's how I met Bernabe who is in my photostream.
For me, Negra Model is "Mi Rey de Cervezas" . . . My King of Beers.
