The final session of the 2013 Fiscal Summit focused on the policy choices that must be made today to enhance U.S. economic strength and security for the future. America faces new and evolving challenges in the 21st century global political economy. Emerging economies have become powerful players in the global marketplace. The security environment is changing, with new threats challenging old mindsets. Maintaining America's status as a global leader will require innovation and a capacity to compete with the best in the world. The panelists were Admiral Mike Mullen, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; Martin O'Malley, Governor of Maryland; and Carly Fiorina, chairman of Good360 and former chairman and CEO of Hewlett-Packard. The session was moderated by Andrea Mitchell, NBC News chief foreign affairs correspondent and host of Andrea Mitchell Reports on MSNBC.

For the Festival of Britain in 1951 Sheffield produced a book highlighting the attractions of the City as a place to live, work and visit. Most of the 10,000 copies were sent overseas to help promote the city brand. According to the book's editor at the time, City Librarian J. P. Lamb, the aim of the book was βmainly to remove the unfortunate impression gained by people who know Sheffield only from what they see on the train when passing through the industrial valleyβ.
Sheffieldβs Festival of Britain programme began with the opening of an exhibition at the Graves Art Gallery on modern British art. There was also a Festival garden in the new conservatory at Weston Park.

The cutlery firm of Joseph Rodgers and Sons was also successful at the Exhibition of the Industry of All Nations, New York, USA, 1853 - 1854. The company received a bronze medal for the superiority of finish in an βelaborate sportsmanβs knife of large size, with blades embossed variously and handle of richly carved mother of pearl.β

The opening ceremony of the South Africa and International Exhibition, Kimberley, South Africa was reported in the Sheffield and Rotherham Independent on 9 September 1892. Reports of awards appeared on 14 December 1892.
Ward and Payneβs βArgentineβ sheep shearing machines won two gold medals, one at the Kimberley Exhibition and one at an adjacent agricultural show.

Great Northern Railwayβs cheap trains to London during July 1851 leaving Sheffield at 11.15 am. 1st class tickets were 32 shillings, whilst 3rd class was 13s shillings 9 pence.
