The Ghan train waiting at the Keswick Station this evening, to start its journey from Adelaide to Darwin.
NB. I mistook this train for the Indian Pacific in an earlier description written last night.
That face when you've got the whole nebula to yourself, you ease it into fifth, your antimatter lines are glowing and the universe is all yours.

CP 8781 positively gleams as it approaches Valois Station leading CP 133 (CP 8132 is mid-train). This edition of CP 133 is 12,600 feet long, weighs in at 9,400 tons and will be good to do 60 MPH on its way to Smiths Falls.
PRL201, PRL202 and PRL205 approach Dooroona with empty Glencore zinc train 9M26 from Townsville to Mount Isa.
Operating on behalf of Glencore by Qube Logistics, this traffic was previously operated by Aurizon and then Pacific National before moving to a more "in-house" operation using Qube's accreditation.
The PRL class are ex Queensland Rail 2250 class locomotives, exported to South Africa by Aurizon and returned to Australia in August 2021.

A short paved trail leads to this beautiful view, a stop along Hurricane Ridge Road in Olympic National Park. HFF
They circle overhead rather frequently, but seldom do they pose for me. I took full advantage , fighting the back light, blocking branches, and distance (hand held).

A row of beautiful Peterbilt trucks I pass when driving home from work. I've seen them all lined up looking great at sunset for a while so on this day I stopped and walked in and asked to take some pictures. The guys were very happy to let me loose with my camera on their rigs. They were clearly very proud of them. Canon EOS 6D & EF 28-80mm f/2.8-4.0L
When you believe and trust yourself about your aims, precisely at that moment your way is going to be shining between the darkness in front of your feet as in this photo! Your future is in front of you, not on your back! If you turn your back, you will see the dark shadow of you..

With no residual light in the Thompson, a westbound train illuminates rock sheds as it passes through the rugged, monolithic pinnacles of White Canyon. The heavy contrasted shadows in this long exposure photograph emphasize the detail and scale of the vertical rock formations.

I found this gem in an antique store in New Norfolk, Tasmania (the lens in the picture is an FD 135 f2.5 - I already had this lens).
I have a soft spot for Canon FD cameras and lenses - my first 'real' camera was an AE-1 back in the 1970's - I still use it occasionally, as well as my all time favourite film camera, the Canon A-1 (which currently has an Ilford Infrared film loaded). This AE-1 Program sits neatly in between these two in terms of features and capability - a real gem to use.
I've loaded an expired Kodak Ektar 1000 ASA film and we'll see what happens!
I am always fascinated when I find the skeleton of a leaf - everything else has crumbled away. And then it's time to play!

An orange CD, blue CD and silver CD. Not sure why DVDs or Blu-rays these days aren't more colourful.
The Full Cold Moon arcs toward the horizon over the Longs Peak massif (14,259 ft; 4,346 m) in the gathering light of a winter dawn, taken near Lyons, Colorado. Moonlight gleams on the icy surface of McCall Reservoir and brings the eye to a silhouetted flock of Canada Geese (Branta canadensis), huddled and squawking about it as temperatures finally began to warm a little.
Happy Valentine's day everyone!

My reason for the Italian trip in the first place was to attend the air show marking 100 years of their air force.
Types present represented aircraft operated by Italy, and so other air forces were generally not invited, save the U.S. who provided an F-16, a type that served for a relatively brief time.
I do remember the Italian DC-6s from the 1960s and 70s, and this type was shown thanks to OE-LDM from the Red Bull collection based at Salzburg.
This particular machine, built in 1958, has a bit of a history as it was once the VIP transport of Marshall Tito.
