Chapel of the Magi or Bolognini Chapel (1410) - Basilica of San Petronio Bologna
E’ l'unica che conserva quasi intatta la decorazione originaria. La cancellata gotica in marmo fu disegnata da Antonio di Vincenzo (1400). Dipinti da Jacopo di Paolo il "Polittico ligneo" e le finestre policrome. Le pareti furono sontuosamente affrescate da Giovanni da Modena con un ciclo raffigurante: "Il Paradiso" e "l'Inferno" a sinistra, nella parete di destra "Le storie dei Re Magi", nella parete di fondo "Consacrazione di San Petronio" e scene della sua vita.
It's the only one that preserves the original decoration almost intact. The marble gothic cancel was designed by Antonio di Vincenzo (1400). Painted by Jacopo di Paolo the "Wood Polytic" and the polychrome windows. The walls were richly frescoed by Giovanni da Modena with a cycle depicting "Heaven" and "Hell" on the left, on the right wall "The stories of the Kings Magi", in the back wall "Consecration of San Petronio" and Scenes of his life.

The sign displays Chinese characters and mentions Shanghai, Sichuan, and Northern cuisine. Red lanterns hang above the entrance, and diners are visible inside through the glass windows. The atmosphere is active and typical of a busy urban evening.

On the Gateshead side of the river Tyne is home to the The Sage, a centre for musical education, performance and conference. A unique looking building in my opinon.
It was a quick trip around the Quayside this morning. I'm not normally one for shooting landmarks that I think are sometimes "shot to death" but I made an exception on this one. Sometime you get inspired by certain photographers and I've really enjoyed the couple of urban architecture type shots I've been doing recently. Doing this kind of stuff gives you much more freedom especially during processing. With so many shadows and highlights to play with combined with a little contrast it can sometimes makes for a striking shot. The Sage is one of those buildings that lends itself to such photography. Every glass panel seems to reflect a different kind of light and there are lots of different potential compositions. A 25 second exposure to catch some moving clouds and provide some interest in the sky.

The Holy Ghost Catholic Church in downtown Denver is right next to the US Internal Revenue Services Bldg on 1900 California Street, Denver, CO 80202. If you're ever in Denver, then you should check this location out. It is quite impressive how they built the IRS building "around" the Church. www.holyghostchurch.info

Yes, it was before sunset and I couldn't resist coming back to the same spot where I took the sunrise photos a couple of days earlier. There were much fewer joggers around the sunset time and the atmosphere was so different with the golden sunrays refracting on the glass windows of the high-rise buildings along Coal Harbor.

Russell Investments Center is a skyscraper in Seattle, Washington. On its completion, it was the largest skyscraper to mark the downtown Seattle skyline in nearly 15 years, and is the city's sixth tallest building, at 182.18 m (597.7 ft), with 42 floors. It was originally named WaMu Center because it was built to become the new headquarters for Washington Mutual (WaMu). Major construction ended in early 2006, with minor construction continuing into the fall. Tenants from Washington Mutual began to move into the tower in March 2006. On September 25, 2008, Washington Mutual failed, and its assets and accounts were sold to JPMorgan Chase by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. On June 1, 2009, the building was renamed Chase Center.[4] On September 9, 2009, the building was purchased by Northwestern Mutual of Milwaukee. Russell Investments, a Northwestern Mutual subsidiary, made the building its corporate headquarters upon relocation from Tacoma, Washington, and renamed the building the Russell Investments Center. In December 2014 Zillow became the largest tenant in the building.

1201 Third Avenue, formerly Washington Mutual Tower is a 235.31 m (772.0 ft), 55-story skyscraper in downtown Seattle, Washington. It is the second tallest building in the city, and the eighth tallest on the West Coast of the United States. Developed by Wright Runstad & Company, construction began in 1986 and finished in 1988. 1201 Third Avenue was designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates and The McKinley Architects. The building was the world headquarters of the financial company Washington Mutual from the building's opening until the company moved into the WaMu Center across the street in 2006.
On a gloomy, wet August day in London, I finally got to see the (in)famous Gherkin, the new Sir Norman Foster building. I personally love it! I guess I could have given it the title of "Gherkin under Glass" :-)
Since I wanted to present it in a "new" way, I decided to focus mainly on its reflection in the surrounding buildings and also in a puddle (see images below)
The Gherkin is the popular nickname for the office block opened in 2004 at No.30 St Mary Axe. The road is named after the nearby Church of St Mary Axe (the 'axe' part referring to a relic kept in the church).
The skin of the building is double-glazed and the space between the glazing is ventilated to help with temperature control and reducing energy use. The Gherkin is said to use only half the energy of similar sized office towers.
Most of the panes of glass are completely flat - the only curved glass is the 'lens' at the very top.
The spiralling pattern results from the floor layout within. Each floor has been rotated 5degrees relative to the floor below.
The top of the tower has been kept as an open space to give an uninterrupted, all-round view. The lift gear has been moved from its usual site at the top down to a lower floor, and separate 'push' lifts need to be used for the last part of the journey.
