This intrigued me on my way into work this morning. Guildhall Yard is situated on the site of London's only Roman amphitheatre, and apparently the Museum of London is re-enacting London's gladiatorial games this summer.
Had a busy day at work, but ticked a couple more things off my endless to-do list. Emptied the cupboard under the kitchen sink this evening, so the plumber can fit our new tap tomorrow - and Tim moved everything round in our spare room, too, to give him space to move the radiator in there. So looking forward to getting these jobs done!
Column detail photographed at the ruins of Santo Domingo church, in Pontevedra, Spain. I found it interesting that Roman gladiator games were referenced amidst the church's architecture in what appears to be a celebratory way, considering as well that early Christians were frequently sacrificed on the arena.
