Often, I will donate my time and my skills and my shop-time,
to help charities I believe in.
One such organization is called Bookwallah.org- a 501c3 charity that believes, that through the power of donated Children's Story-Books, traumatized (and often troubled) young kids living in urban and rural Orphanages in India, can be transformed through the Gift-of-Imagination.
Bookwallah's once-a year-Fundraiser has a diverse variety of many donated items on which to "Bid";
eg. Holidays, Trips, Sporting Events, and other great experiences available for Silent Auction bidding.
Miss Anna- won- the right to take a one-day session I custom created for her- and LOOK AT WHAT SHE MADE !!!

He offered a trade and I jumped at it. I had no idea he would do something so personal. I am so thrilled.
If anyone has ideas for displaying these, I'm open. They are on cardboard and I don't want to do any damage to the pieces.
By Hans Haacke
Fourth Plinth,
March 2015 to September 2016
Hans Haacke’s Gift Horse depicts a skeletal, riderless horse - a wry comment on the equestrian statue of William IV originally planned for the plinth.
Tied to the horse’s front leg is an electronic ribbon displaying live the ticker of the London Stock Exchange, completing the link between power, money and history. The horse is derived from an etching by George Stubbs; the famous English painter whose works are represented in the National Gallery at Trafalgar Square.

I have been curious about this since I saw it in the Sur la Table catalog. Could be stupid, or could be fun, right?

Some quick gift tags I whipped up (inspired by Ellene's gift tags) to include with my latest Etsy sale. I love the stamping on the ivory ribbon.

we are serious about our gift wrapping/decorating. every package gets the royal treatment.
Raffaella and I exchanged presents a couple days early as we weren't sure that we'd see each other again until post christmas activities. I got her a lumiquest softbox for her flash, hand cream, a DVD that my student made (we used her pictures for the art work but forgot to give her credit. She's been asking for a copy and I've waited seven months to give her the one that I had reserved), and a remote for her camera (R1). This is in the process of opening the gift. The reason I posted this shot is because I discovered something interesting. The picture was taken at night but it's looks like day time, right? This is because I turned the flash towards the window so that it would bounce, and did it ever.
A going away present for a coworker of mine who is transferring to another store.
I cut out the logo from a gift card, sanded it into a circle, used an emery board to smooth the edges and a nail to make a small hole, then, along with some other stuff, made it into a necklace.
Materials: Starbucks gift card, jump ring, coffee bean beads, stopper beads from the ends of guitar strings, fishing line and a clasp
