No card? No problem! Brush a quick coat of metallic acrylic paint on a silk leaf and use a gel pen to write a sentiment. The Black Ink Papers purple wrap is two sheets of unryu laminated together; the reverse is aqua for an extra little surprise.

A jar of Minty Strawberry Jam gets the gift wrap treatment because I feel like it. Any avid jam-maker would have stacks of berry basket lying around. I padded the basket with a bit of crumpled tissue paper and nestle a jar of jam inside. A bit of cellophane and ribbon complete the package. This is actually very practical because the plastic basket protects the glass jar from getting jostled around.

Just before Christmas 2022 I mentioned to my brother and his wife that that the best present I had ever been given was the patchwork quilt that they had paid my sister-in-law's sister to make, that I had been using for years but was now getting very threadbare. I suggested asking if they could get another one made, which I would pay for.
I heard nothing more about it and I didn't want to push the issue.
Last month, before Christmas, I was presented with this quilt, made by my teenage niece. She refused payment.
It is summer and it has been too warm to make much use of it yet, but I am sure that it will give me many years of snuggly warmth when the weather cools.

Vintage Polaroid 335: a gift from my photography professor & mentor, Charlie. Charlie's the reason why I have most of my old Polaroids and other darkroom knickknacks. He usually just gives them to me, and this was my newest surprise when I came to class today! It takes Fuji pack film, so i'm going to start using it as soon as I order some offline- i'm so excited!
My first attempt at a gift cake. Really happy with colour combination, but my ribbons were a nightmare as I only had 24 hours to let them set which wasn't enough, so they were flopping. I've learnt my lesson about accepting an order that I don't have time to do!!

My friend Josh moved to my neighborhood a couple of days ago. Last night after my show, he showed me the place and in pawing through some of his things, I found this camera, a Konica rangefinder from the 60's. He proceeded to just give it to me, along with the Weston meter (though the camera has a built-in meter). Not sure how well any of it works, but it'll be fun figuring it out.
Knitted gifts for my sister and BIL's baby shower this weekend for my little niece or nephew due five weeks from today! Bibs, burp cloths, handspun sweater, and blanket.
It is possible I have gone a bit over the top in my excited auntie-ness. In my defense (if needed), the blanket was finished over two years ago, and I have been knitting for this babe for about 6 months now.
