I was working in my small studio/dinning room with my light tent or light box yesterday. :-) I have a beautiful glass vase that was a special gift, it has some really interesting patterns and cuts in it. I started to shoot it and then I wondered what kind of patterns I might see if I intentionally blurred it. I noticed a form right away that to me looked like a veiled lady, very ghostly, you can see what looks like part of her arm, shoulder, breast and a veiled face. Next to her with his back to her which my husband pointed out looks like a knight in a chain link face shield. I thought it was pretty cool. Sorry for the winded

This old mill in Christchurch is so old it is mentioned in the Domesday book of 1086. I'm pretty sure it wasn't open to the public when we got there in the early evening, and yet a figure in old fashioned clothing can be seen at the window..

Happy Wednesday for Windows!!

A bit of a fun shot for Monochrome Thursday. A ghostly figure taken during a long exposure shot at Trebarwith Strand. Spooky!

between light and shadow,

he moves without leaving a trace.

just a whisper on metal.

beneath a gentle drizzle, the metropolis building in madrid rises like a cathedral of noir. moonlight cuts through the damp night, draping the scene in silver. the man crossing the slick avenue—hat low, umbrella tight—feels like a ghost from another decade. this is not today’s madrid, but a dream of its past: the street still wide open in front of the facade, untouched by the urban remodeling that would later reshape gran vĆa. framed in the spirit of ilford’s fp3200, the image captures the grit and grain of a time that feels both imagined and remembered.

beneath the vast blue expanse of the madrid sky, one of the cuatro torres stands tall and imposing. the kpmg building pierces the sky, its reflective glass faƧade capturing the fleeting shapes of clouds. today, these clouds form ethereal shapes, reminiscent of ghostly figures swirling and dancing around the skyscraper, invoking memories of the spectral apparitions from ghostbusters. the interplay between the sleek, modern structure and the wispy, transient clouds creates a scene where the earthly meets the otherworldly, blending the solidity of human achievement with the ephemeral beauty of nature.

a fleeting presence on the edge of reality — reflected, refracted, and almost forgotten. her quiet focus floats above the rush of gran vĆa like a memory you can’t place. this photo isn’t about place or person. it’s about that delicate pause between looking out and looking in.

The corridor to the Clock Tower at Antler Hill Village on the Biltmore Estate. Asheville, North Carolina.

Through the corridors of sleep

Past the shadows dark and deep

My mind dances and leaps in confusion.

I don't know what is real,

I can't touch what I feel

And I hide behind the shield of my illusion.

So I'll continue to continue to pretend

My life will never end,

And Flowers Never Bend With The Rainfall.

The mirror on my wall

Casts an image dark and small

But I'm not sure at all it's my reflection.

I am blinded by the light

Of God and truth and right

And I wander in the night without direction.

So I'll continue to continue to pretend

My life will never end,

And Flowers Never Bend With The Rainfall.

It's no matter if you're born

To play the king or pawn

For the line is thinly drawn 'tween joy and sorrow,

So my fantasy

Becomes reality,

And I must be what I must be and face tomorrow.

So I'll continue to continue to pretend

My life will never end,

And Flowers Never Bend With The Rainfall.

BRATTLEBORO RETREAT WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1834 and was designed to provide humane care for patients suffering from mental illnesses.

As with many facilities for mental health during that period, doctors believed fresh air and exercise would help treat ailing patients. In 1887, construction began on Retreat Tower. Patients were designated to construct the tower as it was believed the physical activity would help their treatment.

Definitely gave me goose bumps:-)

Fun little experiment I did with a long exposure shot where I stepped into the frame for only a small percentage of the shot and then stepped back out.

This resulted in a transparent version of me looking out over the river as if I'm some kind of ghostly figure.

What do you think?

Saturday Self Challenge 06/10/2018 ---- Diagonal

Well this was a challenge , soon as I saw the challenge for this week The Stepping Stones at Westhumble on the River Mole got into my mind and I could not think of anything else to take . I have taken shots here before over the years including a timed shot like this , sometimes when the stones were just not there being under water during flood times .The stones make a nice diagonal across the shot although not corner to corner . Even for the challenge I am not wading into the river with camera and tripod as I am perched on the edge as it is !!! Well I did not have to wait long for someone to cross and the young lady in black - , well when I looked at the shot she was just not there other than a ghostly foot on one of the stones !!!!

Not long to wait and another couple of walkers came along and having changed the speed from 2 seconds to 1.6 seconds seemed to do the trick ! I even had a superb electric blue flash pass by but only had a chance to glimpse it let alone even think about the camera !! Darn , another missed kingfisher .

The North Downs Way crosses the river at Box Hill via seventeen hexagonal stepping stones, which are frequently submerged after heavy rainfall. The current stones were dedicated in September 1946 by the then Prime Minister Clement Attlee, replacing those destroyed during the Second World War as an anti-invasion measure. The location is popular with anglers and families, but swimming is strongly discouraged as the water is polluted in places. The stones give their name to the pub in the nearby village of Westhumble.

When the Burford Bridge was rebuilt in 1937, excavations revealed a "flint-surfaced approach to a ford at low level having all the signs of Roman workmanship" suggesting that Stane Street (which ran from London to Chichester via Dorking) crossed the river at this point. In Defoe's time, there was a footbridge at this point, but carts and waggons had to cross the river by a ford.

This beautiful image from the Clonbrock Collection is entitled "Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny [Gwynfryn, Woodstock]". The scene appears to have been taken in summer time with some of that rare visitor, the sun, paying a visit at the time. There are ghostly figures in the foreground including a ghostly dog but I am not sure if that counts for our dog spotters. How does that scene compare with todays?

The general consensus (based on the long exposure, lady's fashion/dress and buildings) is that this might be closer to the middle of the catalogue range (1880s/90s) - and certainly unlikely to be from the end of the range....

Date: Catalogue range c.1860-1930. Possibly middle of this range c.1880s/90s.

Ashen Sorrow

I couldn't believe my luck with this shot! Barely had I seen the artwork on the wall and scanned around for a likely subject, when I spotted this elegant lady in a long black coat walking down the road towards me texting on her phone. Sadly, by the time she reached the artwork, she had put away her phone. I guess I could be picky and have wanted a brunette as well, but I could have been standing there for weeks and the right subject never show up, so I guess to spot the artwork and have her walk past in the space of 1 minute is amazing enough. Don't you just love street photography when this happens.

I randomly snapped some pictures at my left and right. This is what came out. In the underworld, pictures don't need to be sharp as a tack. This concludes my haunting series.

Not sure about the figure to the right!

Another from my first attempt at smoke photography. I liked how this produced an almost figure like pattern, like some sort of ghostly siren, beckoning you to come.

This is one of a few where I didn't have to fix any accidental light spill on the background. I believe this was one of the few times where I moved the flash and handheld it over the incense stick. Produced a much brighter smoke figure. Still did some Lightroom adjustments and added some adjustment layers in CS5. Canon 430 EXII at about 1/16th power (although this might be one of the few times I changed the power setting too) through a makeshift snoot. Cropped off some empty space on the left.

Photograph taken in moderate rain showers at 07:29am on Thursday 30th January 2014 at an altitude of Eighteen metres from the staircase overhead 'Evans Cycles', off Tooley Street A200.

Having headed up to London Bridge Station on the 05:31am first train of the morning, we are looking down upon Duke Street Hill and a I noticed a woman half running below me, towards the rainy pavement reflections, her red rain mac blowing in the wind, and wanted to try and capture her movement through the frame.

For me, there is just a hint of ghostly apparition to the frame, as though her red hair is flowing behind her, Or maybe that;s just my furtive imagination.
