Czech Republic. Kostel Svateho Jiri (St. George’s Church) was finished and consecrated in 1352, but over the next 300 years it experienced decidedly more than its fair share of devastating fires and other spooky (according to locals) events. When, in 1968, part of the roof collapsed during a funeral service, it proved to be the final straw for the fleeing congregation. They decided to go ahead and admit what they’d known all along – the place was haunted as shit.

Was there a driver in the cab? Not entirely apparent from here.....

1921 Union Pacific ALCo 2-8-2 Mikado locomotive acquired by the museum in 1996. I've added the oil paint and poster edges filters at different opacities to separate layers and stacked them on top of a monochrome treatment of the color HDR photo.
Looking across the platforms at Birmingham New Street Station. Ghostly happenings on platforms 8 & 9.
It's almost 10pm and a deserted Exeter Central sees the arrival of a pair of DMUs with Pacer 143618 leading.
The train is in fact an empty stock repositioning move from platform 3 running under the headcode 5E57. It will shortly depart from this platform (2) as the 9.55pm to Exeter St Davids (2E57). The unit on the back is Sprinter 150265.
I selected this frame from the sequence because of the way the driver was highlighted while the front-end remained largely in shadow.
I've switched commenting off for this one.

I am working on a "Lonely Road" gallery for my website and rediscovered this photo from 2013. It is the road to Star City ghost town in Pershing County, Nevada and I think the distant haze and dust devils add to the lonely feeling. Star City was a silver mining town from about 1861 to 1871. Once there were about 1000 people there, but today there are just a few ruins and the population is zero.
I just discovered that I posted this photo in 2014, so this is a duplicate, but I guess that is OK after a dozen years.
If you look closely there is a lone figure standing over there on the cliff. There are many haunting legends about the history of Mount Desert Island, such as the floating bride in white with a terrible grin, or the wailing cries from a pirate shipwreck that drift across the water in the moonlight...

I composed this image of a ghost town building in an advanced state of decline during a road trip to SE Alberta, Canada and a visit to the ghost town of Dorothy.
Dorothy was a thriving small town until its nearby mine closed and the trains no longer stopped there. A few hardy souls still live in Dorothy, but the above is an example of what surrounds them, as nature retakes the land.
For Macro Mondays theme, "Spooky"--ghost measures about 1.75" wide, horizontal dimension of image kept at 3".
I was a little surprised to find this crab at the park at Cape May and as close as I can figure out it's a Ghost Crab. An interesting find.

It's been misty and raining all day today. This morning I was looking across the river at the gloom, wondering where the eastern shore might have disappeared to, and then I saw this. When I raced downstairs to grab a suitable camera/ lens combination I returned to see that it had vanished! Then it reappeared after being behind some foliage ... or it was a real ghost ship? It did seem odd anyway ...
