About a year ago, I was exploring out around Linfield when I found a view of the Limerick Generating Station cooling towers that I really liked. I've posted these before but since then, I always thought it would be nice to get the moon in between these towers.

Now, I'm not very good at planning anything and any decent moonshots you see of mine are often the result of being invited out to shoot something that has already been planned by someone else. However, last night, I did plan out this shot using the @photopills app (because it's what I have) and the alignment was essentially spot on. Since I've never really used this app extensively and still don't even fully understand it though, while the moon rose and ascended exactly where I wanted it, I basically blew it one way or the other in terms of poorly pre-planning my shot.

That said, I took plenty of long exposures of this scene including this one with the moon directly behind the right tower vapor plume which I feel is still a fine substitute for not getting the moon shot I was shooting for.

If you are visiting Andorra la Vella and want to venture out of the capital city for a short hike, climb up to Sant Vicenç d'Enclar and continue through the woods to see the Enclar River. You will be surrounded by forest, but you will start to hear the sounds of rushing water as you get closer to the river. It’s just a nice relaxing place to visit after your hike up the mountain.

When you travel to Oregon and visit the Columbia River Gorge every year, you find yourself struggling to find new waterfalls that you haven't previously seen. Willie, Zack, and I spent a weekend in the gorge but it was Rami who suggested we try something new: Upper Bridal Veil Falls.

Rami warned us that the hike would be steep, slippery, and possibly surrounded by poison-oak. We came prepared with rope, long sleeve clothes, and lots of energy. Turns out that Rami wasn't kidding: the trail was STEEEEEEP. Several times we found ourselves sliding on our tuchases down the trail. Thank goodness Zack brought his rope with him! When you get to the bottom though, the view is worth it!

This waterfall is deceptive: the wide angle lens masks how big the waterfall is. It's huge. I wish I had placed a person in here to provide perspective but sadly we were all so focused on shooting the ferns and the waterfall that we forgot to run in front of the photo. I loved the way this fern unfurled in front of the waterfall, while the stream soared down next to us. The whole waterfall and stream reminded me of a brides veil and dress, as it flows down behind her.

As I have the last several days, I've been heading to Camden each night for sunset to redo a particular shot that I got about a year ago. After yesterday's rain, it was kind of a priority to get out today because the window for this shot is almost closed. However, if you hadn't noticed today, there were really interesting clouds and rain shafts all over the place today with lots of structure and precipitation. So when I was pulling up at the waterfront and saw an incredible rain shaft just north of the Ben Franklin Bridge, I thought about chasing it, then decided against it, and then quickly changed my mind once more. Now, I've already posted a shot of this from later on in this chase and I will likely post some more of it finally moving away from me, but I actually fired off a bunch of shots of this while cruising because I knew there was a good chance that I simply would not be able to catch up with this and that with the sun starting to wind down, this was going to start falling apart. So, I'm glad that I did shoot out the window because this actually turned out well. I had to adjust the level and crop in because it was pretty cockeyed, and I did enhance the structure some because it was soft (shooting it at 20mm from farther away than it appears), but I can guarantee that's actually exactly how it looked - large swirling wisps of rain, mammatus, significant turbulence, and amazing structure. What a thing of beauty!
