Art and Architecture Building of the UIC has a geometric glass dome on the top, which is reflected on the dark glass windows beneath it, that wraps around a staircase. It was a pleasant surprise to find it, as I went up the stairs, looking for interesting detail to photograph.

In dance, we at times use props in our choreographies. However, we still follow a certain order when using those props. The tossing of a ball or the swinging of a baton is still done with a certain “rhythm”. The subject here has equipped a pair of uniquely-patterned circles into her dance.

This photo was quite tricky for me to capture. Firstly, I had no models to help me and therefore, had to use a tripod and remote. Since I needed both my hands to toss the circles, I had to set my camera so that the shutter opens two seconds after I press the remote. Therefore, I had to have good timing. Secondly, since I can’t see myself through the viewfinder, I had to position my body well so it looks good in the frame and at the same time, be cautious of how I toss the circles. I couldn’t toss it too high, too forward or too behind me. I am happy by how the top part of the frame cuts off just at the tip of the top circle and how the two circles “made contact” just at its tips. This was done without cropping any part of the photo.

I had purposely chosen to capture this photo in front of this window (even though it wasn’t a very wide one) because it’s the only window in my house with blinds. The blinds create a rhythm by itself and so does the building behind, actually. Plus, I like the silhouette created from being in front of a window. Besides lines, there are also a lot of geometric shapes in this photo. I used an aperture of f/4.5 and a shutter speed of 1/320 of a second.

Well, I did use the Rubik's cube for a photo from yesterday but I thought a slightly different angle captured a little more geometric shapes!

Poi refers to both a style of performance art and the equipment used for engaging in poi performance. As a performance art, poi involves swinging tethered weights through a variety of rhythmical and geometric patterns. Poi artists may also sing or dance while swinging their poi. Poi can be made from various materials with different handles, weights, and effects (such as fire).

Poi originated with the Māori people of New Zealand, where it is still practiced today. Poi has also gained a following in many other countries. The expansion of poi culture has led to a significant evolution of the styles practiced, the tools used, and the definition of the word "poi."

Introduction the lecture: POWER NUMBER AND CONJUNCTION

With today's lecture, children will understand what is power number and conjunction. Also know how to evaluate (example: the square root of 4 is 2, the root of 8 is 2), simplify (example: the square root of 7 multiplied the square root of 7 equal to 7), express in the form K the square root 2,...

As always, thanks for your views, comments and faves!

During my trip to Atlanta this week, these are views of geometric patterns seen around and about my hotel downtown. The light runes you see on the building are intriquing, until you realize that they are the reflections of the afternoon sun from the windows of the building next door... Still, can anyone make out any of the runes on the building? Is there a hidden meaning?

It's that time of year where ALL my free time is spent at schools watching Lacrosse games. So, at half-time or between games I walk the school grounds and snap pictures.

I'm apparently capable of being endlessly amused by all the changing reflections I see in glass-curtain buildings, so here's another one: a rectangular tower with all but a top section covered with reflective glass panels exhibits a dramatic, almost completely monochromatic pattern, presumably of clouds; this was indeed this monochromatic in real life, I didn't selectively desaturate that part of the photo.

The imposed completely squared-off shape of the building as seen in this photo is an impossible perspective, given where the photo was taken from.
