Marsh Owl (Asio capensis ssp.tingitanus) in flight Morocco_North Africa_w_0363

The Morocco Marsh Owls are an isolated and dwindling population. So much so that they are now a critically endangered species in Morocco.

This fragmented population is geographically separated from other breeding Marsh Owls by the huge arid area to the south called the Sahel. The Moroccan Marsh Owls are in fact a sub-species Asio capensis ssp. tingitanus. The only other other sub-species is Asio Capensis hova, in Madagascar.

The main cause of their decline in Morocco is habitat loss due to draining of large marsh areas with the expansion of agriculture.

The green iguana (Iguana iguana), also known as the American iguana, is a large, arboreal, mostly herbivorous species of lizard of the genus Iguana. Usually, this animal is simply called the iguana. The green iguana ranges over a large geographic area; it is native from southern Brazil and Paraguay as far north as Mexico and have been introduced from South America to Puerto Rico.

Considered an invasive species; in the United States, feral populations also exist in South Florida (including the Florida Keys), Hawaii, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.

A herbivore, it has adapted significantly with regard to locomotion and osmoregulation as a result of its diet. It grows to 1.5 metres (4.9 ft) in length from head to tail, although a few specimens have grown more than 2 metres (6.6 ft) with bodyweights upward of 20 pounds (9.1 kg). – Wikipedia

The region of the Franconian Switzerland comprises Germany's largest closed cultivation area for sweet cherries and geographically belongs to the northern Franconian Alps. Sweet cherries are grown at altitudes between 280 m and 400 m above sea level on the frost-free slopes of the deep, romantic valley incisions and at 400 m - 550 m above sea level on the wide Jura plateaus.

The sweet cherries cultivated today are descended from the wild bird cherry (Prunus avium) and the common sour cherry (Prunus cerasus), which are still used today as seedling rootstocks for grafting with cultivated varieties. Commercial cultivation of sweet cherries is mainly based on proven varieties with high yields and tasty fruit with good resistance to rot and other weather-related influences. Cherry cultivation in Franconian Switzerland can be traced back to horticultural activities of the Weißenohe monastery in the 11th century.

Giraffes are best known for their long necks and the striking coat patterns of irregular brown patches on a lighter background. Each giraffe has a pattern that is unique to that individual, like a human fingerprint. This may help hide them from predators, particularly when they are young, since the bloches tend to break up their outline when they are among trees. Giraffes are divided into several subspecies depending on their geographic location, color and coat pattern.
