This old bunker was made to protect a generator used to power equipment that observed launches from LC-39A and B. The location is too close for people to be present during launch. Some precautions were taken to protect the equipment, especially in the case of a huge explosion. The equipment was needed before power was available at the site, so a generator was needed. It seems no attempt was made to remove the bunker long after the generator was no longer needed.
Tsunami wave generator. It consists of 29 separate paddles (you can see the back of one here), that can be positioned at different angles to get differently-shaped waves.
They might look old, but they are still in use!
