USS Albacore (AGSS-569) was a unique research submarine that pioneered the American version of the teardrop hull form (sometimes referred to as an "Albacore hull") of modern submarines. The revolutionary design was derived from extensive hydrodynamic and wind tunnel testing, with an emphasis on underwater speed and maneuverability.
We believe this was the power generating room (the blue room) for the Buckner building in Whittier, Alaska. It had a large muffler (painted red).hanging from the cieling. We think the people that took the generator out are responsible for the hole. The rest of the the mess is due to time and destructive people that have torn the place apart over the last 40 years.
Gaza Barracks near Tonbridge was one of many barracks constructed in 1938 as the threat of war was imminent. As was often the case, Royal Engineers constructed the infrastructure, with a local contractor completing the erection of buildings; a cheap and quick timber clad frame with corrugated asbestos sheet roof, typical of the era. With large workshops and accommodation for up to 10 Officers and nearly 200 other ranks, the barracks was home to transport units, latterly accommodating personnel from search light batteries stations locally. After the war, the War Department retained the barracks as a depot for equipment due to be disposed of following the war. It was sold in 1960 and has remained in private hands since.
The original buildings remain in apparently great condition. Some have been demolished through mixture of poor condition and Council insistence (the owners can only build a new building if they demolish an old one).
The site does remain in private hands and there are tenant business occupying most of the units. This was a permission visit and tour with the owner, who appears happy to show people with a legitimate interest around this unique site.
Not all of the generators are actually put to use regularly, as contrary to popular belief the dam's first priority is not power but irrigation to the Imperial Valley in southeast CA. It was initially put into place as a means of "taming" the Colorado River's cycles of drought and floods.

Exhaust Snorkel In Place
On the playa, I fix the location of the snorkel by hose-clamping the elbow to a 2-ft x 1/2-in piece of rebar driven into the ground about 1 ft. Then I move the generator to snug it up to the elbow.
The exhaust should exit as far from the ground as practical and preferably well above head-height for people walking by. On the playa, I slide a 10-ft x 1/2-in PVC pipe over the rebar stake and extend the ducting as far up the PVC pipe as it will go. I hose-clamp the ducting to the PVC pipe at the far end and at a couple of places in the middle. The ducting will vibrate and rattle against the PVC pipe in the slightest wind if it isn't secured in several places along the pipe. Very annoying in the middle of the night, I assure you.

The Airshow was performed by the RSAF (Republic of Singapore Air Force), the RAAF Roulettes (Royal Australian Air Force), and Tony Blair (Australian Flight Instructor).
I visited the airshow exhibition with my military buddy, Shah, and his 2 friends. Shown in this set are photos of the F16 Fighting Falcon, the Apache helicopter, the F15, C-130 Aircraft, and the Rebel 300.

The insides of the sweep generator that I bought recently - look at that beautiful vintage electronic goodness!
Some pictures of my (as yet, unrestored) Petter generating set. Engine is a 2 H/P @1000 RPM, M type Paraffin engine, being a little less common in having a single heavy flywheel instead of the usual two spoked.
Decided to feed this image into Deep Dream generator (online program) and ran a few passes. Not for the faint of heart. lolol
