Hello Flickr friends ☺
Captured this scene a few years ago during a May sunrise (at 04:57).
Another one of those slightly cold (-1°Celsius) mornings where nature blessed us with calm winds and a powerful sun glow over mirror-like waters :-)
Found this tree branch (& reflection) positioned like a diamond (or an eye) and had to hurry and take some creative shots before any large ships passed the area (as their waves would most likely reposition the branch or knock it over... which is exactly what happened a little while later!)
(( update: Many people commenting on this photo say they see two arms with intertwined hands / fingers, crossed in the sun glow... and now I see that too! ))
The warm sun glow caused a pretty mist to rise upon the water, which made the scene even more lovely for me :-)
I captured this with my older Sony HX90V and cropped the photo quite a bit to remove land from the left side and also to reposition the 'Diamond Eye' from the center area.
Hope this golden glow brings a smile your way today :-)

The Churnet Valley is full of undiscovered gems.This is a lovely waterfall in Crowgutter Wood near to where I live, not many people go, I'm almost always alone when I go there. I've looked at this waterfall many times from above, you can't really get a photo from above and I'd thought about going to the bottom many times but it's either been too overgrown in summer or it's been to muddy/slippery in the winter but this time I took a rope and made it to the bottom - and back!
I took quite a few shots, some long exposures with the water frozen in time, which always looks so dreamy and pretty, and some faster exposures which show the power of the water - it's subjective and I know some don't like the look of long exposure water - being kind of artificial, and that's fine of course. I went with this one first but I'll probably post another contrasting one at some stage.
It was about a 90 second exposure (and a 30 second exposure for the sky to get some blue and clouds) and I blurred the sides a little (at varying percentages) for further dreaminess

When I was last here in 2015 there was still a mailbox in front of the building. It hasn't changed otherwise.
Both fake :) The gems are pale pink, blue, green, violet & yellow so perhaps imitating different colour Sapphires or even Diamonds (or maybe Rose Quartz, Aquamarine, Peridot, Amethyst & Golden Beryl).

A bit different for me but we had a two month long spell of rain here in the UK and what do you do when it's raining and you like taking outdoor photos? - go find something indoors!
There is much to say about this place but I'll do my best to keep it succinct. This is the interior of the Roman Catholic church in the small market town of Cheadle in the Staffordshire Moorlands. I was born in this town and I lived there for 44 years, and, seeing as the Cope family were Catholics until just before I was born when the family fell out with the church and all left, I went to many funerals and a few weddings in this church - it was just a regular part of life.
and yet there is something remarkable about this place that I never appreciated until I was an adult - and that is that people have have come from all over the world to see this place ever since it was completed in 1846! It holds a unique and hugely important place in the history of the Gothic Revival of the 19th Century due to it's sublime and intricate interior design features.
Built by the famous architect Pugin, (most famous for designing the Palace of Westminster/Houses of Parliament in London), it was one of a number of local designs that he was commissioned to design and oversee (including the great hall at nearby Alton Towers) by the then Earl of Shewsbury and this stunning and unique example of interior church design became known as 'Pugin's Gem'
